Anyway, that wasn't the reason I asked you all here this morning, it was this that turned up a year out of date on Facebook.

On Facebook today from GloucestershireLive a year ago on the garage's centenary:

Still going strong today.

With acknowledgements to all three organisations. I'm sure they won't mind smile

West Chinnock, Somerset. I would dearly love to see this restored to its period condition.

Good spot! It went into Rich Duisberg's book but not into Humer Unbeam. A scandalous error.

I drove down there specially too.

Came across this picture yesterday from a jolly to County Durham in the 90s. It would appear I've been interested in old garages and petrol stations for a long time. The car is a DB5. Hard to tell looking at the mid section but the giveaway is the badge below the wing vent. The DB4 didn't have a 'DB4' badge.

That tiger's head pump globe would be worth a mint now.

Marvellous.

In 1947, Art Lacey purchased a B-17 bomber for $13,000 and flew it from Oklahoma to Troutdale. He then disassembled it, transported it covertly, and placed it atop his 48-pump gas station.

Rich Duisberg who, inspired by the Humer Unbeam thread, published a five volume magnum opus on old petrol stations, has written a book about Roy James, racing driver, Great Train robber and all-round man of the people.

It is to be launched at The Motorist near Leeds at 7pm ish on May 22nd. I'm planning to go. He's an entertaining chap. It should be a good evening.
