Assuming this isn't limited to UK only, I spotted this weird one just after crossing the border into the Czech Republic from Austria a few weeks ago.

Disappointed there isn't a Little Tykes car at one of the pumps...

Just to mention in case anyone's on the area that I drove from the M54 N on the A41 yesterday to just S of Nantwich and saw a couple that would be worth including (or might already have been covered) - no time to stop, unfortunately.

The A505 north of Royston. I reckon it was the location that led to its ruin. You come across it suddenly and then it's too late to turn in. I pulled in on my third pass even though I knew it was there and wanted to turn in. The other problem is pulling out again into the traffic; chaps coming at you over the rise at a rate of knots.

There are vehicles mouldering in the back lot as well. Who could have done such a thing?

yikes
I drive past that one regularly. As you say, the location is pretty lethal.

That's my stamping ground. Any more clues? I can go and have a look.

Is that still there?

I go through Lavister regularly as I have friends in Rossett, though will admit to never noticing it. Opposite the Nags I take it?
Nearly opposite Darland Lane, so a bit before you get to the Nags. It was there when I last drove by a couple of years back and is still there on Street View, may well have gone now though. A shame if it has

Morland near Penrith

With a slowly decaying Moggie Traveller behind the pumps.

Passed this last week, the workshop buildings to the back are now fenced off but the sign is still up, I presume it was previously a filling station - https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.9575696,0.989366...

Apologies for poor photos, need to update the phone or remember camera when passing again.
Standford bridge on A41 Shropshire, fuel changed to bird food now, seem to remember an armed robbery here many years ago

Bloomsbury garage, used to break volvos and mx5's in the past, seems to be curios in showroom now, but still a sign for mxheaven

Here's the Bloomsbury garage in its car oriented days:

https://www.shropshirestar.com/news/2014/04/30/eve...

I filled up at the bird seed one years back (no armed robberies during the 5 minutes I was there).

I remember that back in the late 1980s there was a very, very old fashioned place on that stretch of the A41 - literally a wooden shed and three old style pumps with Shell globes on them. But I can't remember exactly where it was. My memory has it on a bend very close to the Bloomsbury Garage but there seems to be no sign of it now.

Had a run out in the car and as it was 1st Wednesday I called in at High Ercall car meet, then up the A442 via Hodnet, don't use this road much these days, pumps were blank so guess not in use now

Also see site of old Shell filling station is up for sale (long gone, possibly 80s?) at junction of A442/A41

Used to travel A41/442/49 a lot more in the 70s and 80s, amazing how many garages and cafes have disappeared

this one might have been posted - In the depths of Lincolnshire, not much seems to change and seeing this thread instantly reminded me of this filling station in Wainfleet, home of the Batemans brewery. When I saw it in 2016 it was still functioning, complete with those natty swing-over arms for the hose to reach the far side.
(not my photo)

I'm going to North Wales soon where I can think of a few more tucked away. Great thread

Minor League compared to some recent ones but I was pleased to see Martins the VW dealer in Farnham hanging on to a little of their heritage.
