Some good info here, thanks guys and gals. Had a go in one at brooklands Mercedes world,to be fair it blew my mind with the combination of performance, noise and luxury. One of these is on my shopping list, once I sell my mk1 escort.

I love mine, and it’s been trouble free for 2 years and 14,000 miles.

Fuel efficiency is pretty good for me, as it lives and drives in rural North Yorkshire. Servicing at the main dealer seems reasonable, and consumables are sourced easily and cheaply from AUTODOC.

As I’m old (er) insurance isn’t an issue, and as it’s stored currently for the winter, I’m rather looking forward to firing up in March.

Relatively new owner here having had mine for about a month, although I've lusted after one for a few years. The push was to own one before, well before we can't anymore.

I don't regret my purchase one bit, in fact, this car has surpassed my expectations. The engine with it's relentless torque, cracks from the exhaust on upshift in S+ or the burble from the V8 just driving around. Oh and the cold start... It's a good job my neighbours are into cars!

I moved from a E92 M3 to a 2012 C63 Estate over 5 years ago as we had our first born on the way. Other than the poor fuel economy (12mpg around London), I’ve had nothing to complain about.

Oh, and it’s suitably PH spec - Estate, no badges, small wheels, clear glass!!

How would you compare it to the E92 ( I know its coupe vs estate)?

In simplified terms(for me anyway) the C63 has some torque and the M3 doesn't! biggrin

I had the E92 for 18 months, and now had the C63 for 5 years, so that gives an indication of how they compare! I like the E92 but I never quite gelled with it. When the S65 is singing in the top end of the rev range it’s amazing, but on the public roads you have to be pretty committed to get there. The C63 engine is utterly fantastic. How they get a 6.2 litre lump to spin sweetly to 7200 whilst still being so punchy low down is unbelievable.

The E92 (on 19’s and with EDC) rode significantly better than the passive set up on the C63.

Gearbox wise, I prefer the MCT in the C63 over the manual M3 (which pains me as I’m usually a big manual fan). The MCT locks up and removes the slop that usually comes with torque converter, whilst the M3 doesn’t have the slickest manual in the world.

Running costs - M3 was significantly better on fuel. But in 5 years the C63 has not thrown any big bills, whilst the M3 had more potential to hurt (the dealer quote for the spark plug change was ridiculous).

I went for the C63 AMG W205 Estate as my daily / workhorse - it looses some of the soundtrack, but makes up for tech, pace and overall refinement, also with AMG warranty in place should anything arise. The nearly 500bhp V8 twin turbo uis still a growling, snarling monster that demands respect, love it, already driven 16,000 miles in my ownership!

This is my 2013 estate. Fitted with a Quaiffe diff and used in all weathers. As most have said, the engine is the main event and the noise is very addictive but the MPG isn't as bad as you would think -an average of 20 for the last year.

W211 / CLS219 are based on same platform I believe. They have air suspension (more to go wrong!). Their engines are rated at 514bhp.

The CLS63 is a refined car. Much better interior build quality, with extended leather everywhere.

They aren't as nimble as the C63, but a nice motorway cruiser, and with the AMG suspension in sport mode, can be hustled along nicely.

I love my one - it is an occasion every time I drive it. It drinks like a fish, and I have only ever managed to get a maximum of 300 miles from the tank, and that's sensible driving. Average is 250 miles with mixed driving.

However, the noise, the pull from the engine, the effortless power makes it all worth it. Cold start up always makes me grin. And to be fair, my old E39 M5 only managed 330 miles from a tank, as did a previous S600 Bi-Turbo. If you want economy, buy a C220 diesel.

Therefore, considering it is a 6.2 V8, it's pretty reasonable! The M156 engine is a masterpiece, and generally a reliable and robust old unit. In my opinion, one of the greatest engines in the last two decades.

The wagons are all round usable although as others have said the 19s wheels are made of chocolate, having replaced a front and rear rim in the last 4 months.
I assume your 186mph run on the autobahn was a remapped 500hp m156? I only got to 155 mph on my German autobahn trip in the summer which was taking liberties given the family were in the car at the time.

On a side note it's no where near as quick as my bmw m4 was or as sharp steering or handling but at the same time the gearbox is more refined on the merc and mine is the face-lift. I'm not an audi fan but I looked long and hard and couldn't think of anything else that would be fun that wasn't too large. Having driven an m5 round Bedford I was seriously unimpressed with that heffer!

It's going to be very hard of what will come next for me after the 6.2. To be fair the 4l is a nice machine but ever complex cars means much higher running costs when they hit 5 years old plus.
A C63 is competing with a M3 / 4 though not the M5. E63 for that surely. FYI I thought my M5 was awesome around Bedford (the 1k ish straight must have made you smile?) so I guess different strokes for different folks.

TX.

I've been looking for one of these in Palladium Silver.
Where did you source this from please?
I can't remember seeing this advertised anywhere.

It wasn't advertised. Like you, I knew I wanted Palladium and could only find about 6 facelift estates for sale in the UK so a friend of mine put up a wanted post on a C63 Facebook group and the rest is history!

Surprised we've not had any cold start videos yet...

They are a bit like the baddies car in Bullitt.
A fairly sober appearance but with a monster engine ready to growl in to life.
(And no flying wheel trims).

Makes sense, when I had my CLS 500 (2008 219 model) I drove my mother in laws diesel C class which was the same year and it was noticeable how much cheaper the interior seemed.

Was wondering if the C is massively quicker or not much in it ?
