One single thing that makes you think "knob" Vol 3

Trying to get home yesterday. Edinburgh. Average speed 7mph. Old woman decides to just come to a complete stop in the middle of a busy roundabout while she squinted and peered at the roadsigns. Gave her a quick beep to let her know she was holding everyone up and she tutted made a "wait there" hand gesture. Leant on the horn this time and she gets annoyed, hanging out of her window asking what my problem was. Er - YOU ARE LOVE.
I called her gods least favourite word and she finally drove off, looking offended.
I win.
Regardless of what the elderly woman did, you're the knob tbh. Calling her a c u next Tuesday for your own sts & giggles really shows you're the man and "winning" in life. Go you.I called her gods least favourite word and she finally drove off, looking offended.
I win.
In reality everyone else who saw / heard you doing that, probably thought you were the knob / c u next Tuesday.

I reckon you don't deal much with the great unwashed.

I'd like to nominate a neighbour in the next street, who reckons that right now is a great time to be setting off fireworks. fking tit.
They done it before and its the usual story, only set off 6 or so rockets with a massive bang then that's it. But why the fk in August? Or any other time of the year that's not near Bonfire Night??
Pricks.
Somebodies birthday/wedding party/just got engaged? They done it before and its the usual story, only set off 6 or so rockets with a massive bang then that's it. But why the fk in August? Or any other time of the year that's not near Bonfire Night??

They've done decent displays on bonfire night before, just seem to be unable to have a bbq or party without setting a few off. My wife pointed out on her facebook feed that complaints about it from other neighbours were just met with "fk off" and "why don't you join in you miserable ". Folk that were complaining were people with terrified pets and people with young children who were now awake and screaming at the noise.
Really classy folks round here...

Nope, it was apparently just a bbq. If it had been a proper event then fair enough, there'd have been less issue. Although I don't quite see the need for fireworks even if it was a birthday tbh.

6 rockets caused terrified pets, screaming children and complaints? I think you may be blowing this up a bit........They've done decent displays on bonfire night before, just seem to be unable to have a bbq or party without setting a few off. It is a pretty quiet area at night, you can pretty much guarantee the pavements are pulled in by 9pm so I'm guessing that's why the complaints started. It's a private FB page otherwise I'd share it (local area type page I think).
Like many folk I messed about with fireworks as a teen, but at least we fked off to the woods to set them off instead of letting rip in the middle of a housing estate. Hmmm maybe this would be better off in the council thread, I'll shift myself in there too

For me, what makes me think 'knob.'...people who don't know how to drive in order to make SAFE progress...typically these are the same people who haven't quite succeeded in life.
So accelerating to make a risky run through an amber light when you could easily have stopped is your definition of "SAFE"?You did say "always".
Honestly you are yet another tool to put on the avoid list.

I guess being non-conventional and independent in my thoughts and subsequent conclusions has proved valuable to myself...I can post my car garage on here but what does that prove in terms of my point etc. etc.

I am really, i just call it how it is - some people are sheep like and lack an internal thought process and hence can react negatively to it. Like the amber light, it's not dangerous to go through and no one is able to say why, but in sheep like monotony they all have to disagree and then get personal.
I guess being non-conventional and independent in my thoughts and subsequent conclusions has proved valuable to myself...I can post my car garage on here but what does that prove in terms of my point etc. etc.
There's being 'unconventional and independent' and then there's just being an argumentative sod who won't let a point go... plus the line that everyone that disagrees with you is a sheep is a bit arrogant TBH. Therefore, to answer your continued argument about Amber being safe to go through and no-one can say why...I guess being non-conventional and independent in my thoughts and subsequent conclusions has proved valuable to myself...I can post my car garage on here but what does that prove in terms of my point etc. etc.
1- We all agree, hopefully, that Amber means Stop, unless you've crossed, or are too close to stop safely, before the white line (HC and all that).
2- This is done to create a buffer space between potentially opposing streams of traffic to allow one to stop fully, before allowing the other to go (fairly simple, I know!).
3- The Stop, but in some circumstances you can go nature of Amber allows for a degree of common sense in the creation of that buffer, by not expecting everyone to slam to a halt and risk rear-end collisions. This is, by its nature, subjective, and therefore some people cut Amber closer than others, which is fine and the whole reason there is a buffer in the first place.
4- The later that people cut Amber (and some people still go through as the light turns Red) removes much of this buffer and increases the risk they encounter traffic coming the other way - especially if one of them has also jumped the lights, having seen the other side going Amber and decided it wasn't dangerous to go now (same reason that Red and Amber means 'Prepare to Go' not 'Go')...
As you seem determined to go on about, there are plenty of times when you can see that a junction is clear and safe to go through on Amber and even Red. The US allowing right turn on Red is one example which works very well. So What!? As soon as people are doing their own thing against the accepted rules of the road it increases the chances of two muppets who decide to do their own thing at the same time, meeting. Try the fun of driving in Naples if you want an example of this!
So, to sum up, no, going through on Amber, or even Red is not necessarily dangerous, per se, but it is there to create a definite safety buffer and provide a system that brings opposing traffic together without accident, which people who decide to make their own rules reduce.
I would also say that if you go through on Amber at speed then you've had less time to fully look at the junction and ensure it's safe to cross.

And, let's not forget, nobody said it was. Instead we've got a bit of a muppet arguing that every amber light is safe to drive through, and asking people to prove otherwise, when what he should actually be doing is proving that any given amber light can be driven through safely. I think, LittleTiger aside, we can all agree there are circumstances in which driving through an amber light is unsafe.
