I'm never sure who actually buys these types of car.

A 200bhp Corsa surely appeals predominently to the under 25s, most of whom would surely struggle to insure it?

I can't say why they do the overboost. I think it may be down to getting around some poxy laws/regulations though. It's becoming quite common though, the Fiesta ST's overboost takes it from 180hp/177lb ft to 200hp/214lb ft
May be to reduce the amount of punishment inflicted on the drivetrain? I believe it's only available in 3rd gear upwards so would mean if you're abusing it in countless traffic light grand prix's, then you're putting less stress through the gearbox, clutch, etc and only getting full power when you're well and truly already up to speed.

This issue is not unique to Vauxhall, but I really dislike the modern trend of shoehorning massive screens into a dash, necessitating locating them and other useful controls well out of the eyeline / reach.

I had a last gen car and it was great - I'm not sold on the nose and the rear "fill in" lights seem to have made the look (as others have said) a bit narrow and tall.. but it's okay.

I'm 26 with a Mini JCW (R56), so a similar type of car. Insurance is very reasonable actually - about the same as my old 320i. smile

Not usually a fan of Vauxhalls (or Opel as we know them here), but it does seem they've hit the nail on the head with this model.

Sure, it may be a bit heavy but as long as the pace and dynamics are good it's not that big an issue.
A Nissan GTR is a lardy machine as well, but goes around a race track like you know what off a shovel.

Now if only they applied this ethos of proper handling/dynamics to their entire range of models...

Did not think of that, probably correct! But yes you're right over boost is only on 3rd gear upwards.

Always liked the last Gen, and I thought the triangle exhaust exit just gave it something a bit different. This just looks a bit of a mish-mash. Really dont like the front end at all. Would appear to go ok though despite the weight of the thing!

Every Corsa VXR has had that issue to my eyes.
Agreed. The styling tweaks, especially at the rear, mean I think it looks better than the old one, but it's still a weirdly proportioned mess when taken as a whole.

Also, over 100kg heavier than the Polo GTI with a DSG box that everyone complained was too heavy anyway?

I seem to be in the minority but i quite like the looks of it. The front looks especially nice and looks really aggressive to me. I must say the whole rear end is a complete shambles though. The boot crease and the rear lights make it look so pathetic and small. From the rear it has no presence whatsoever. The Remus tailpipes look like an afterthought too and don't even look connected to the car.

Also this is supposed to be a whole new car. So why has it got exactly the same alloys, spoiler, body kit and seats as all of the previous generations? It's basically just a facelift of the Clubsport. I think the standard triangular exhaust looked alot more funky and different. I must say i think the interior looks alot better and the price they're offering it at compared to it's competitors isn't too bad either.

Maybe the engineers are already planning the 'lightweight RS model' with 100kg removed as a Friday afternoon job...

Looking at the quoted weights it should have been their full time job....

I too am baffled by the weight figure of 1368kg.

Either that weight figure is wrong, or the 0-62mph time is wrong, or the power/torque is being under reported. Something doesn't add up there. The article says "generous torque" but that figure is lower than a standard Fiesta ST. How does it overcome that mass with almost identical bhp/torque figures as the standard ST? It can't be down to that wide torque band can it? A Fiesta ST weighs 1163kg! Also if the fuel economy figure is really NEDC then it's going to be thirsty. 37mpg NEDC will be less than 30mpg in the real world.

I really dislike the exterior, and the green does it no favours. The interior is nice enough. The Fiesta ST cannot be said to be pretty, but it does look a lot better than this.

It'll sell in the bucketloads like the last gen Corsa, especially if they chuck a 'Limited Edition' badge on it. (judging by all the Corsa's local to me that are all sporting the badge)

I am however failing to see what is so 'Limited Edition' about a white 1.ltr Corsa confused
Vauxhall's idea of a LTD Edition it seems is to make it a trim level permanently available . rolleyes

Visually they've toned this one down to look like the model below the VXR. Looks rubbish. Interior looks nicer. Lets hope they've improved on the poor quality interior of the previous gen.

I doubt it.
You've possibly now got an extra back box and more tubing which would be dearer than the previous solution.
It doesn't require a bespoke bumper though, just a cheap bit of unpainted plastic which will no doubt feature in every upcoming Corsa bodykit with the second exhaust cutout blanked off, Skoda style. Across every Corsa, a cheaper solution no doubt.
