Gutted to be selling ours as we need 4 doors now. I've loved every drive over the last 2 years!

Mine had a new rad and new front brakes about a year ago, I also did the water pump and aux belt was due, and even though it was 2 years and 50k early a cambelt kit went in. I did all of this for under £250 smile

6 months ago an injector failed and it ran on 3, drove it home anyway. Replaced it with a spare one out the garage.

I have thus continued to brutalise it at every opportunity. It's just clicked over 150,000 miles.

I have rewarded it's absolute refusal to die recently with new OE shocks all round, cooksport springs, new topmounts, new rear calipers/discs/pads and bearings. I have also added a set of 4 Federal 595RSR tyres. I might even go as far as front calipers as well because one of the bleed nipples has broken, but we'll see.

With all that the handling is utterly brilliant. It's just a hoot to drive, every time.

New OE shocks all round?!

How far into 4 figures did that cost?

I've heard there are a few dusty originals lying around, put Renault reportedly want £1,500+VAT for each corner on the front. They now have stock of a new batch of Sachs rears, which I think are around £350 for a pair. You could buy another Trophy for that!

Well if £35 per corner for shocks is expensive I give up! Fair enough the Sachs will be a bigger premium hence people refurbing them rather than buying new.

Do love mine though, however I have just taken it past the realms of being a daily due to roll cage, buckets and solid mounts all round

I did shocks all round, Cooksport springs all round, and new updated topmounts for under £400 IIRC (Mine is a '53 172 not a Trophy remember).

If you go for new updated topmounts, you need an extra metal insert that doesnt come with the kit, and the old one doesnt fit with the new topmounts.

Apologies, just checked, with the new topmount inserts from Renault I spent around £430.

Cooksports £144
Topmounts £37.50 ea
OE Front shocks £90 pair
OE Rear shocks £96 pair
Inserts £25 pair

And the Federals at £140 a pair * 2 pairs = £280

And the Aux belt kit @ £80

And the cambelt kit and rad was £120 for the both, rear calipers were £54 each, plus the discs pads and bearings....

So thats the value of the car in the last six months then biggrinrofl

Absolutely, even my rebuild set me back just under £800 for the pair. Even still though, my Trophy is absolutely sensational and I love it to bits. I'm taking it to our Goodwood track day this Saturday, so will be my fourth track day this year since I bought it back in April. I've got no plans whatsoever to change to anything else anytime soon!

I've wanted one ever since watching Harry Metcalfes video on his own. It must be an impressive little car if it's captured his admiration so much.

Enjoy smile

I went out and bought my clio182 after watching this video! Brilliant car much better and more fun than the BMW 335 I had before , just a shame it's not the trophy but I am well happy with the 'normal ' one
