Wonderful car, just love the look and sound of them. Which is why i've ordered a Lister bell replica. Should sound good too with a 3 litre Alfa v6 on throttle bodies

Stunningly beautiful.

Are the wheels specially made for them as they *appear* original?

How do Lancia do it, Stratos, 037, Gamma coupe, three of the most stunning looking cars ever produced (IMO).

I'm half way through my Lister Bell build, can't wait to get it on the road. The wait to receive the kit was torture.

The wheels are made for Lister Bell, the ones in the pic are 16" front and 17" rear to give the options of a wider range of modern tyres. 16" front and rear are available for the Stradale body.

Do you have any photos of the build that you can share?

Glorioso! Well that's my Stratos fix for the month. Where are the new ones of Mr. Hrabek? Are they tied up in the lawsuit?

The interesting thing is that I saw several Stratos in period having the bejesus thrashed out of them on forest stages and the odd one I see now sounds lovely but , like these, is a bit pedestrian. Whereas , although nobody I see these days can compare to Clark , Mikkola, Vatanen et al in a MK 2 Escort a hell of a lot of club drivers can put on a hell of show in an Escort . Says some thing about the Lancia's legendary short wheelbase twitchiness I think .

Well done you! Lister Bell is the way to go, imo. I sold my Hawk a couple of years ago. If I was in the market for a replica today, I'd definitely go LB.
That's an impressive operation indeed.

Not much excites me such that if I had the money I might, but that's thought-provoking...

I think so too. You can see a few signs on the video that the drivers are actually pushing the cars quite hard - the squeak of a wheel locked under braking here, dangling a back wheel in the air there, To me it looks like they're pushing as hard as they dare up to their limit, but are being very very careful not to step over the car's limit!

No lawsuit. Last Inheard, though i'm now out pf the loop with this, Ferrari just won't allow it. Full stop.

Steve Perez usually drives his car like he stole it.

Beautiful cars, but I can't help feeling the price is a touch rich! £23k+VAT for the basic kit and they won't even give you stone-chip on the chassis for that...

Still, if the quality is there it sounds magnificent. biggrin

Yes. I think the lawsuit is/was between Hrabelek Jr and Hrabelek Sr about ownership of the (4?) originals.

As I understand it that's the idea behind the design and set up. The 'twitchiness' as you call it is simply being able to go from straight on to sideways very quickly, exactly what you want if trying to set a fast rally time.

Sounds reasonable. I expect traction out of corners was a big consideration too.

I am sure Loeb would be fast in anything, I wonder what his smooth style would make of the Stratos?

That's not the basic kit price, that's everything except the donor items, everything you need to get it through the IVA. All you have to supply yourself is engine, gearbox, instruments, internal and external door handles and a few other bits and pieces, and only if you want to, Lister Bell will supply all that if you ask. So pretty good value really, you don't even need to paint it, they come gel coated in the colour of your choice. The kit goes together as quickly as you want or you can take your time as I am. One guy on the Stratos forum, ok he is retired so has the time, took about seven months to build his and get it on the road. I'm almost at two years and I think I'm coming up to about half way through. I'm pretty anal though, and biased, these are designed to be built and driven, not laboured over for years like other kits.

Work computer won't let me upload pics sorry Blib, but mine's a red Stradale. Body is now off and engine is in, roll bars are padded and almost fully trimmed, and body will go back on permanently in the next couple of weeks.

Oh and if you're near Harrods, have a look at the Lister Bell that's on display there for the Zenith watches 150th anniversary.

There's a waiting list.
I think that says it all?
