350Z is a good car, often described as similar to a mini muscle car in contemporary car mags. If you like the way it drives, have you considered going for something with a proper sized engine?
Monaro VXR 6.0 can be had in budget, meets all of your criteria, and it sounds good at any rpm. Good chassis and cheap as chips to run too (apart from fuel).
That looks awful!Monaro VXR 6.0 can be had in budget, meets all of your criteria, and it sounds good at any rpm. Good chassis and cheap as chips to run too (apart from fuel).
To be honest i hate vaxhaull's they dont do it for me. i categorize them with skoda and suzuki.
I saw a small group of Monaro's yesterday near Inverness, I agree they are not great looking although they are not bad looking either, but they sounded fantastic. I'm not a fan of Vauxhalls but I'd own one of those at the drop of a hat just for the noise alone.
In your position OP I would test drive one, what have you go to lose?

Best stick with your Renault engine Datsun in that case
What are your next car criteria? Ultimately, £13k budget for a Cayman is fairly low and I can imagine most will be tired at that price point. If badge/ image is important to you, and you want a characterful engine, a BMW Z4M should be in budget (just about).
Haha the renault datsun is some car! but i do understand where you are coming from. What are your next car criteria? If i dont keep my 350z i might go back to a type r or give some sort of ford a go.
