Can't say what RPM the up changes are happening at but that will be deeply disappointing if that's all the noise we're going to get. Yet again you feel the frustration of waiting for the next 4,000 rpm of noise and it not coming.RumbleOfThunder said:
You know what, I'm sick of you aspiration luddites with your whinging about noise and response etcetcetc. Neither will be a problem and it's time you realised this is how it's going to be from now on and the benefits FAR outweigh the negatives, if there even are any.
It depends what you call 'benefits'. If I were in the income bracket that put me in the position of buying a new Ferrari my concerns would be looks, handling and noise. The benefits that these 'new world order' engines offer relate to the concerns of the enviro lobby and people with limited fuel budgets, not supercar buyers.MitchT said:

Performance alone. The TT will wipe the floor with any NA V8 Ferrari could provide. They'd need one of their large V12's to achieve the same numbers.
Given your username, it seems odd that you think noise isn't an important factor with making a car exciting. At least you'll be in a great position to enjoy your electric car with all that 'fun' performance without missing any of the noise.
On topic, the car sounds crap in that video. Given that 'passion' and 'soul' were all the 458 had over the 12C and 650s, which basically means 'the noise made my balls fizz' McLaren must be happy to hear that the Ferrari will now sound as dull as their cars do!
Looks much nicer than the 458 though, will give it that!

You're almost sounding as bad as RamboLambo/GRB. Yes it'll be quicker, yes it'll be more efficient, will it sound better? Not a chance, noise is a big factor with super cars why do you think manufacturers are holding on for dear life to keep them going? (or held out this long) Turbocharging on its own will never replicate the throttle responses and noise that you get from say the current 458/speciale you just won't. Its going to be a new era for sure, but better? Hmm
Im sure many of the ferrari fan boys will jump on board with the latest ferrari, but I'm not so sure it'll be anything like as good as a speciale. Yes it'll probably be faster, its got more power and torque, but think of it as the sam evolution from 360 to 430....
I think ferrari are about to lose their main edge now so it'll be interesting to see what happens to mclarens sales
Modern turbo cars sound st. They all do, and that's that. This will be one of the better sts.
Gearbox - same(ish). Chassis - same(ish). Power - a fair chunk more. Seeing as power and speed in itself is boring, I can't see this car being anything other than crap. I'm sure the magazines will wk themselves into a fury over how much faster it is (but not as fast as the next model - so really, who cares?) but I just won't care.
If we look back on all the great cars of the last 60 years, do any of us care how fast they were when compared to the previous or next incarnation? Do any of us care how they performed against rivals? Speed is nothing, it just gets lost in history. The sound, the feel, the interaction - these are the things that last, and they're the reasons the 488 will be a forgotten car. Bargain in 20 years.

Ferrari have lost the n/a V8 sound track advantage now and that's about the only place where the 458 scored over the McLaren 12C.
Be interesting to see if this can match up to a 650S
do you ever bore yourself as silly as you do the rest of usBe interesting to see if this can match up to a 650S
