I've got a 2.0 TDI Mk6 and it's been excellent. 2011 car with over 100k miles. I'm struggling to think what to replace it with apart from another Golf!

I would tread carefully with the 1.4 TSI since problems do seem to be common and can be expensive to fix. If you do go for one probably worth taking out an extended warranty, unless it's already had chain problems and been replaced with the revised version.

1.4 Twist is a safe buy. Nice spec and well priced. Just need to ensure the cambelt is changed every 4 years!

Hi all,

I recently purchased a. Golf Mk6 2.0 TDI GT it's 2009
It has 96k on the clock 1 previous owner and FSH its in amazing condition inside and out has the cambelt and water pump done at 87k. No mot scares
I drove it home and the glow plug light started to flash and loss of power.
I used my obd scanner and tourqe app it stated p0299 power train control module ..
I took it back to the garage they investigated and said it was egr cooler so had that replaced And I went away it then did the same thing glow plug light and loss of power. They are looking into this again. I wanted to know should I just try to get my money back or once they have fixed it keep the car I've read these egr coolers and bits are expensive so if they fix this the car should be trouble free ?
I really like the cAr it's in great condition I'm thinking it's best to have this one with all the bits repaired ..can this cause further unknown damage do you recommend I keep it once repaired .. is there anything else I should be worried about.?

I should say they are doing all repairs for free

Thanks for all your answers help in advance

The o/h had a Golf cabrio. It’s one from the run-out year on a mk6 platform. Have to say it the worst car I’ve ever experienced along with the dealers. Never again.

I'd give them the chance to put the car right before wanting your money back.

We've owned our 2009 Tdi 2.0 since new.

120k miles now. Been reliable with one larger expense 2 years ago replacing inlet manifold which cost £600 fitted.

Easy 65 mpg at motorway speeds.

They're a good car but in all honesty they're no more reliable than a Focus/Astra also look at the Leon.
