The drivers seat in my trafic van is worn, the metal is making its way through the foam so I am going to fit the seat from something else, as standard trafic seats aren't great. Others have fitted saab seats, range rover seats, laguna seats to their trafic vans without problems, the subframe lends itself to modification. I couldn't give a damn about resale, I'm running this thing until it is beyond economical repair.
I can fabricate brackets to fit anything, so the scrappy is my oyster. What is the comfiest possible seat I can get? Volvo? Saab? Something else?

I had a pair of XJ6 seats in my VW T4, fully electric. Not as good as the seats in my V70 though, second most comfortable seats I've had in a car.

The best? The seats in my Renault Fuego...

My Volvo s60 has incredibly comfy seats. I'd speculate the S80 might be better yet due to being a better model..?

Well worth a look though certainly!

An older brick shaped Volvo (Possibly a 740 I think) is the comfiest car seat I've ever used, closely followed by the father in laws Saab 93

Citroen C5-they don't look it, but the facelift model's seats are gloriously comfy.

Rover 75 is a good shout too.

And ironically enough-one of the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in is my Elise's-it seems to be moulded perfectly to the shape of my back and supports in all the right places.

Unfortunately seats are a very personal choice so I'd say the best way is to get to a scrapyard (which is where I presume you'll be sourcing said seat?) and try a few. For example-my mother adores her Insignia's multi way adjustable, cooled driver's seat. I on the other hand, would find more comfort lying on the floor.

Saab 9000 Aero wingback chairs, not sure I've sat in anything as pleasant, in or out of a vehicle! I believe they were popular with VW vans a while back, they are (or were) quite pricey from what I remember though.
Bizarrely, Peugeot 405 seats would score highly on my list, as would Mk1 Renault Laguna ones.

For me it was a bench seat in a Chevy C1500 pick up I had. It was like sitting on the couch.

Saab 9-5 seats were superb for my particular shape and size. Drove Milan - Kent regularly in comfort. Not so good if you want to go sideways and get all aggressive; but that was not really what the car was for...

Another vote for Saab seats, I had a 9-3 convertible for a while and the leather seats were great

The best I've tried by far were in a 51 plate Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7. They were so huge and soft they cacooned you.

Volvo's and Saab's are comfortable, the Jeep is something else though....

In my experience it very much depends on what shape you are.

The perfect seat will generally always be a relatively hard bucket seat sculpted to fit you personally but obviously that isn't generally possible. Some manufacturers (most obviously Volvo) seem to be very good at making seats which are decently comfortable for everyone but for each individual, the actual best seat available will probably be different.

Comfort.....well the Citroen C5 Mk1/2 Leather

Of all the cars these, together with the suspension, make 100% the most comfortable seating in any car known to (normal) Man

Check out Gorman Pelvic Support Seat patents. This concept is making a big improvement in comfort where people must sit for a long time, e.g. theatre / cinema. Used in Elise seats so they must be high on the list.

Another for the Saab 9000 with the Bridge of Weir leather, think they even beat my later 9-5 in that they were firmer. Could also suggest the Rover 75 ones, probably cheap to pick up and I find the ones in my barge very comfy on long trips.
