I think they'll be doing well to sell all 500 units. Time to close the 12C chapter and move on McLaren
Cracking foot in mouth moment Gromit. You're eagerness to take an ill informed swipe at McLaren overwhelmed you a bit there?
All sold before ANY delivered.

Looking at Bubney's PH O' meter scores... He scores any McLaren piece 1. Ferrari, Lamborghini, Italian stuff in general... The vast majority get 10. Whatever McLaren do he's not going to like. He's is of course entitled to his opinion.
It's actually not only Mclaren. Japanese manufacturers and strangely Aston Martin get similar scores. As you said everyone has their own opinion but at least try to be fair and objective rather than disliking something just for beingI don't use the meter, I don't know why... I just don't think to I guess. I'm not a big fan of Mercs, never have been but I wouldn't score them 1 because of it. As you say, odd behaviour.

I thought this car was ridiculous compared to the 650S, but ever review I've read it seems like they really took a huge step forward in making it fun and rewarding at sensible speeds... Shame they're only making 500!
They really made some progress with the price too. £260k!Gorbyrev said:
Great review Dan, trials of the job and all that. Mr Exceed - have you heard back from Woking yet? One up for the 501st 675LT. As for product obsolescence surely it makes sense to make one fewer than you can sell? I am quite sure almost every GT3 or GT4 had a customer before anyone had a chance to turn a wheel in a test drive. Saves your customers from catastrophic depreciation which is just as well given how much parking sensors cost.
Not interested at all, trying to buy someone else's slot!!exceed said:

Devastatingly quick. Think about anything you've ever been in and double it. Truly ridiculous.
Not sure, any good spec Ultima will be quicker... for 1/4th to 1/3rd of the price! It is still a very nice car with the right driving spirit: specification and driving sensation first
I think it looks better than previous 12C generation cars.
I'm not sure about the lack of LSD. If F1 allowed the same setup would they use that or a regular LSD?? Though Ive never driven any of these McLarens. Wonder what would be the take up if they offered it as an option?
My biggest worry from that article is the idea that McLaren will make more than 500 if people pester them enough. Allowing for poetic licence, Flemke was equally disappointed when P1 GTR was designed as IIRC he was wondering how an additional 20? cars will affect residuals. Would guess those wealthy enough to buy these cars don't take well to being told one thing, only for something else to happen 4-5 months later.

not in REAL world terms in wouldn't get close....maybe on an airstrip it would win a drag race with a skilled driver but not with the average Joe at the wheel, the DSG gearbox and computers would get the power down quicker and harder. You always get the power to weight argument but applying that power is criticalIt is still a very nice car with the right driving spirit: specification and driving sensation first

Who in the hell would spec carbon fibre wheel arch liners? £2,300 is obviously irrelevant to buyers of this but what's the point?
because every time you clamber in or out of the car its a nice thing to look at, the level of detail and quality also feels so much better by just adding a few of these bits. Go and sit in a couple of cars at your local dealer with/without the carbon arches and you'll see what I mean. It's a special this to buy something like this so why have a boggo standard one?
