No it's not. It's illegally spaced and therefore it's st. Simple as that.

OK, I'll grant you that. The daft thing is that because of the kerning effect between an I and R, legal spacing wouldn't really affect legibility of this plate. Easy to make it uncrappy unlike most of the examples here
Agreed. It's a shame they didn't just space it legally.Escort3500 said:

Wrong thread, that's a great plate despite the spacingTo summarise what makes a crappy plate
- Illegal typeface or font style (italics) is crappy
- Illegal spacing is crappy
- Using coloured screw covers to misrepresent text is crappy
- Using the wrong plate or lettering colours is crappy
- Substituting a 0 (zero) for a letter O is NOT crappy
- Substituing a 0 (zero) for a D is crappy
- Substituting a 1 (one) for a letter I is NOT crappy
- Substituting a 1 (one) for an L is crappy
- Substituring a 2 for a Z is crappy
- Substituting 12 for an R is crappy
- Substituting 13 for a B is crappy
- Substituting a 3 for an E is crappy
- Substituting a 4 for an A is crappy
- Substituting a 4 for an H is crappy
- Substituting a 5 for an S is crappy
- Substituting a 6 for a G is crappy
- Substituting a 7 for a T is crappy
- Substituting an 8 for a B is crappy

Far better IMO to dismiss any illegality as irretrievably Chav, any pretence regarding letter and number substitution as irretrievably Chav and any feeble and risible attempt at spelling something as irretrievably Chav. After all, that really isn't what numberplates are for.
Doing so actually leaves far less Real Good plates in the world than either the hard of thinking or the aspirational and semi illiterate would have you believe but it does reflect the reality that the genuine item - here in the Essex Badlands at least - is actually quite rare.

Well, in the UKIt doesn't help with this thread, but in California I could pay $40 and choose any previously unused combination, with a choice of no spacing, single spaces or half spaces and various symbols, so you actually could have "J♥L" as your plate. And yes, there were crappy plates there but as actual plates are manufactured by the state and issued by DMV, they were legal

I understand and agree with may opinions on this thread and yes they are some absolute appalling attempts to make words/names etc some far worse than others but plates such as "DAV 1D" or "JUL 1E" correctly spaced can not possibly be classed as Chav..! I'd say more an investment these days..!Far better IMO to dismiss any illegality as irretrievably Chav, any pretence regarding letter and number substitution as irretrievably Chav and any feeble and risible attempt at spelling something as irretrievably Chav. Had there been a working search system on PH I could have found it for you.
