CHOBHAM on an older shape Range Rover (likely circa '08 / '09) that had been facelifted / modified to look like a slightly newer model.

Bonus points awarded for having the plate printed in an '80's / '90's throwback bold & italic font.

If you're wondering how CHOBHAM is possible, up close it was CH03 HAM with a solid black like placed next to the 3 to make it look like a capital B. I'm honestly surprised he didn't just ask the people that made the plate to print a B tbh.

I used to see this a lot around Newton Abbot. I'm not sure if Lord and Lady Beckham had a gaff nearby.

I can only assume that mis-spacing is now legal, or at the very least simply 'frowned upon' but no action. Whereas doctoring an 'A' to look like '8' for example, is still illegal.

I say this as I must have counted 20 mis-spaced plates on a current journey of 40 miles, not to mention the frequency of them in this thread.

How can so many people do it? Has there been a mass blanket rule lifted but not made public?!

That reminds me, I saw a T5 camper yesterday with a German-style plate on the front. I can't remember it, but the O in the last three letters had an umlaut - Ö.

Has anyone had the misfortune of meeting someone with a crap plate like this, and then asking why they do it?

I wonder what goes though people's heads when then come up with the idea of using a cap to form another letter, surely all these cars will be a fail come the first MOT?

My father had a legally spaced Irish plate. People would ask why he had it. The last 3 letters was the name of his company has registered at companies house. (not the public name) The first 4 numbers were consecutive on several of the vehicles. To the outside world, or to this thread which probably could not be counted as the outside world, they would be crap. Especially on their own. He did not care though.
