Ironic that he has the MOT logo on his plate. No idea why you'd have that on any plate?
I thought that, especially as the plate would mean an instant fail!

The illegal spacing on many of them is annoying
ANPR now should be able to identify a match for a plate which uses the correct characters, even if mis-spaced. Even if it can only narrow down to a couple of options, then the vehicle type and colour is probably unique. Therefore I don't care about spacing and it is only font / character / colour / size butchery that should attract the long arm of the law IMO.

I think there should be an ANPR camera in each MOT station. Plate not recognised = no test, thanks for the cash, goodbye.

You don't care about spacing? Are you therefore on the right thread? This is a crappy plate forum, but should be called mis-spaced, for there are so many examples of altered plates for us to wonder and puzzle over ,it is an affront to decent law abiding motorists.

ANPR doesn't though, well at least not at my local supermarket.

I have a car with perfectly legal plates, size, font & spacing but because one of the screws goes in the middle of one of the letters at the edge ANPR reads a 0 as a 9.
