Ref the above ,my last boss regularly changed cars and kept the current new plate on until it was no longer the latest

Spaced correctly and in the proper font, but it's the last plate I'd put on a pillar box red CLK cabrio...

Spotted this 53 plate 2005 911 500m from The Emirates. Someone really has spent money on what I assume is an "Arsenal" plate????

Drove past it earlier today, made me chuckle! Thought whether it belongs in the “other” thread, I agree with everything people say there about fake and tacky and misspaced, but somehow this plate on this car made me smile - figured that’s got to be a good thing! smile

There's also enough terminally stupid people in the UK easily deceived into thinking a car is newer than it really is and more than enough dishonest people willing to deceive them if a older car could have a current number plate and even the most slippery politician on the planet couldn't wriggle out of some of the blame for that one if they let it go ahead.
Whilst I agree with your general principle, I think calling people "terminally stupid" for not recognising a newer car is pushing it a bit.

I would say that I am a bit of a car geek, not in the same league as some on these forums but if I was presented (for example) with a pair of BMW 120's, one from 2013 and one from 2018, if both in the same condition I'd have trouble telling which was which. As would the vast majority.

Well bit harsh maybe, but you get my point smile

Google is always your friend in these matters if you're not sure.

The whole of North London would likely recognise what it was about so I think DVLA missed a trick by not putting it in their auction.rolleyes

Definitely a cherished plate - 53 plate on a 2005 car.

Reminds me of an awkward moment with a friend of my son in law. His Range Rover was wearing an '04 plate and I commented on Its marvellous condition. Out of earshot following the silence whose cause I didn't understand, my sil told me the car was new and the plate OO 04 and then his initials should be read as "Ooh for..."

I didn't mean to offend him. Are there evening classes in number plate etiquette?

Evening classes? Evidently not - but it sounds like a plan though

I could write a syllabus and hire a mobile car crusher for anybody who fails the course. scratchchin
