It's exactly their character that allows illegal Platees to break the law for no better reasons than either they think it makes them look good or they are very keen to avoid easy and quick identification. Can't be anything else but one, the other or quite possibly both.

That's enough of a character reference for me.
I think you once suggested that a mis-spaced plate is a gateway crime.

Is that really how you feel?

Genuine question
Let’s not encourage him. I’m sick of his tirades in here to be honest.
To be fair, some of the plates on here are criminal biggrin

It's a waste of time. I've seen him suggest in all seriousness that because someone had moved a digit 1 inch he must be a drug dealer and his wife a slag. You're dealing with somebody who's grip on reality is tenuous at best.

Genuine question deserves a equally genuine answer.

Consider the evidence - we're up to volume 4 of one of the most popular and longest running threads on PH now so there's no shortage. Persuade me I'm wrong about the illegal plate mentality and come up with a better explanation for illegal or illiterate number plates.

Do that and I'll cheerfully STFU. But until then...

MR 600 LT

on a white McLaren 600LT in Torquay yesterday.

At least it had a front plate!

It looked good, and was surprisingly quiet.

It’s an Irish plate. It ends with the letters O and I, not numbers 0 and 1.

Well your theory isn't water tight. I've had a mis-spaced plate for about 10 years (subtley, most non-plate nazi's probably wouldn't notice) – I have no criminal record and never have done, I've never been arrested. I've had one speeding conviction, once, about 9 years ago.

I've also only ever had one police officer mention it in ten years, and even he didn't seem that bothered. I've had police behind me hundreds of times and again never been of interest to them.

It seems the only people that get their knickers in a twist about them are people that C124PPY plates have absolutely no affect on whatsoever. Don't get me wrong, some of the plates in this thread are a step too far, certainly changing the typeface is not to my taste. But I'm far from shallow enough to base my opinion of people on a number plate alone, and also aware enough that someone can be a kind, generous person yet have a bit of a cringey number plate.

It matters not whether it affects you, it's just an opinion on an illegal plate.
p.s. I'm intrigued by your subtle plate, can we have a peek?
