You're a racist and an idiot.

I have absolutely no doubt that the people you know talk about you when you're not about, and they're not complimenting you.
Who said it's a matter of race? The majority of Hackney's population wasn't born in Britain.

Hackney? It's pretty solidly British. But the type of British that seems to scare non Londoners.

The link doesn't give country of birth, only ethnicity.

It seems to say that 36.2% are white British origin, which suggests that 63.8% - a majority - aren't.

But no stats on where born, that over 78% state their main language as English suggests the majority are UK born and bred.

39.1% non-UK, which isn't a majority.

Indeed. And spending any time in the area it becomes very clear it's a very British part of inner London. Culturally, it's quite a nice area. A nice mix with its own heritage.

We've drifted a little way from the earlier suggestion that race was the issue - race is about ethnicity and nothing at all to do with place of birth.

And to bring this thread back on topic, if it hadn't been for the dashcam that recorded Gary Eugene Brissett, from Clissold Road in Hackney in east London keying the Aston Marin, he would have walked away scot-free, as it now stands, a court conviction may be the least of his worries, guess he should have considered the consequences of his actions by infringing the human rights of the owner of the car and keying it.

Hey, human rights work both ways idea

I simply cannot believe this happens, why would anyone feel the need to key or spit on another's car simply because it's an expensive one?

Awful.
I remember being driven through Stratford Upon Avon about 10 years ago in an S2000 with the roof down on a sunny day two cars behind a Boxster. Some scummy passers-by spat at the Porsche and implied that the owner pleasures himself. For some reason the S2000 got a thumbs up and no abuse.

The severity or similarity of the crimes themselves were not being compared, it's the 'victim at fault' mentality being questioned. I'm sure you were fully aware of that but simply struggled to form a reasonable argument, because there isn't one.
There is one, because I've not said it's the victims fault. There's no need to pretend I've blamed the victim.

It's clearly the fault of the perpetrator (which I would have thought is bleedin' obvious) however, if I have six figures worth of car, I wouldn't take it to a deprived area and rub it in the faces of people as it is (also, bleedin' obviously) likely to cause antagonism. This is why I don't have nice things, as others cannot be trusted to respect them.

Although, you are fully aware of that, you just want to take cheap snipes at others.

How is having nice things rubbing it in people's faces. how far do you apply it. Should I not get my iPhone out in council estates.

My shoes cost £100 should I ditch them oh and what about the watch. Also being from a run down estate if anybody is likely to flaunt their expensive items its people with very little who do it as a status symbol.

It's racist because you can't know where the guy was born just by looking at him. And it's irrelevant anyway.

I wouldn't worry about £100 shoes when Nike trainers cost more and most kids will have an iPhone they got for free off a ginger weed in a suite who took a wrong turn. biggrin

"Sentencing has been adjourned until 19 September."

I feel sorry for his child, if that's his attitude they may be better off in the social system...
