This one is for the nerds - haters need not apply. Inspired by the concurrent thread (my dad had one of those) does anyone else have ingrained in their memory the reg numbers of their parents car? I remember most and have happy memories of the excitement associated with each "new" car that came into our family although in hindsight all were fairly mundane:

LFT 430X - mothers metro, blue and a rust bucket but seemed like it was out of Tomorrow's World (anyone under 35 need not apply)
E82 CCN - Fiesta Popular (not even Popular Plus), white and seemed amazing after the Metro
E900 DCU - old man's Orion 1.6d L, Burgandy and slow as hell. First new car for us.
J658 JPV - rover 216 BRG - 16v engine seamed very spritely, 2nd gear went after 40k
G852 RVK - Subaru estate GL - had shifatable low ratio, was amazing on a road car

I could go on. Would like to hear if others have similar memories which inspired their car interests....

Bizarrely I remember CME94H, a Mk2 Cortina, owned from 1972ish to ~76. Replaced by a Renault 12, number unknown, then a Fiesta SFU404T, later a Mini van LTL 232P, both of which I drove as a learner and new driver. All dead now, I imagine. The R12 nad Fiesta both had accidents, I know they died.

Ask me what my registration number was now and I would have to go and look, and write it down before I got back to the computer

UGM83K - Parent's Austin 1300. Lots of memories, mainly the last one when the subframe failed, took out the brakes and tried to kill us going down a steep hill.
PGD175P - Grandmother's Mini 1000 Automatic. Three speed go kart and lots of, very slow, fun when you are allowed to drive agen 12.
DGG632X - Austin Maxi. My parent's car, memorable because they passed it on to me as my first car. Hateful and slow; BL build quality - exhausts broke, suspension sank - engine was powerless and noisy. It was brilliant because it was mine and it was freedom.

I am sure I could do many more, but that is probably enough "nerdish" for now.

Great thread OP...

I have problems remembering all my own, never mind my Dad's cars but there is one: EDN 945 which was a Austin A40 from the mid-50s. Why it's stuck in my mind I'll never know.

KNW 700N - MkII Capri 1.6XL. My dad's one and only new car. Rusted in a couple of years.
AUM 500S - MkII Capri 2.0 Ghia. Ex demo, last of the MkIIs. Built in Germany so less rust. Nicked in Edinburgh 1986.
B364 FWE - Sierra 2.0 GL. First and last 'family car'. Chose it over an Audi 80.
G634 OWA - Astra GTE 8v. My dad loved this car and kept it between 1993 and about 2007 IIRC. Sold with low miles as mum wanted a convertible.

An excellent - and infuriating- question. I will reply when I have filled in a few gaps in my immediate recollection.

M636HWO - Blue VW Golf 2.0 GL Estate

They got a diesel golf after that and I lost interest somewhat.

My Dad still remembers a lot of my Granddads plates going back to the 60's.
