[quote=dontlookdown]In kinda chronological order, the ones I can remember.

Dad's cars:
MOA 75P - Mk2 Cortina 2000E estate. Metallic grey. His first company car.
FWX 688T - Mk2 Granada 2.8GL estate, white.
EUB 986Y - Cavalier CDi hatch, red.
B610 KBL - BMW 320i 4 door, white.
PIJ 2558 - Irish reg Mk1 Golf GTi, metallic green.

He also had a Mk1 Cortina GT on a C plate and a Fiat 125 Special on an H but I can't remember their full numbers.

I just got out of my car a couple of days ago and for some reason the number plate from a car I owned many years ago came to mind. Eager to see if it was still on the road, I typed the reg. into Google and lo and behold there it was. Posted by 'dontlookdown' on 16/1/21, it was one of his Dad's cars.

I was the proud owner of white Ford Granada FWX 688T. Bought it from a guy in Askern, S.Yorkshire in about 1984. Think I kept it for about 2 years before selling it in Kent. I loved that car and would love to know if it still exists somewhere. I may even have some photos if I search hard,

Dad liked plates

He (Bob) had 8 BOB

He also liked annoying people so bought Mum SOL 11 but put it on as SOLI 1

The major had SOL 1 (Solihull) so a few locals used to get quite upset laugh

VUP 818L, my dad’s first new car, delivered to the house the night before L reg day. Ford Escort 1100L, navy blue from Atkinson & Browell, Consett. (The Atkinson was Rowan’s dad)

JTN 104P, beige gold metallic Citroen GS Pallas with Black vinyl roof. His second new car. Can’t remember the dealers name but was in Hexham. Absolutely gorgeous thing which rotted away from the sills upwards.

Hell, yes.

In my early childhood my Dad had some Bonds and Reliant Regals, and I can't recall their reg numbers, but once he got a driving licence and proper cars, I acquired the ability to memorise things:

Cortina Mk2 estate - JJO 446F
Ford Zodiac Executive - DUV 770J
Triumph 2000 - PKX 788M

Then he died and Mum couldn't handle the 2000 so bought brand new:

Colt Mirage - A227 XRX

Followed by:

Ford Escort 1.6 Ghia - B181 NPL
Daihatsu Fourtrak - E46 KPH
MG Maestro 2.0 EFi - G508 HOX

By which time I was all grown up with my own motors, so I'll stop there!

Of the many cars dad had, I can only remember one registration. Cars in my youth were an endless series of old sheds and life involved undertaking engine swaps, resprays and cancelled days out due to numerous reliability issues

SGL 702M, a Vauxhall Victor FE 2300 estate, always smelt of dogs in damp weather

Edited to add, I have just looked on the DVLA site and apparently I only remember one registration not two frown

I posted above that I couldn’t correctly remember the other reg number ages ago in this thread

It’s come back to me now

OOC 579X a Datsun Bluebird. The first foreign car he had owned and the first reliable and rust free one as well. It was four years old though so a fair bit newer as well

E833 LBJ on my dad's old red (pink really after it faded so much) Astra.

No idea why that one stuck so much but it always has.

In my mind it has always been:

RHO 870T

But I'm not sure if 0s (or indeed Os) were valid in either section of a 1978 plate.

Orange Austin Allegro smile I absolutely loved it as a kid, especially the trampoline-like rear bench.
Scanning through this thread and was about to list my folks plates had a green Volvo estate which was RHO 802T!

Only two I know ( and only because I have photo's of both of them ) were NV 316 - a 1930 Austin 7 Ulster ( way before my time !) also referred to as the Monza Ulster in Austin circles, and XCD 88 which was on a Mk1 Jaguar 3.4 which I remember from my very early days.

Well well. I doubt it is still alive but good to hear from a later owner, I will tell my Dad;)

It was a company car so he will have owned it from 79 -81 or 82. Can't recall if they were for 2 or 3 yrs.

Did a lot of miles in it, had quite a hard life pulling a horse trailer in and out of muddy fields at weekends too. Had a new diff I think. Also had a half respray after the paint was heat damaged when the building it was parked near burned down.

Was quite rare as a 2.8 manual, standard fit on all except the GLS as I remember was three speed auto.

I remember it as being a super comfy long distance car with a nice V6 burble. Interior was v brown, and it had a 4 speaker tape deck. That was cutting edge stuff back then.

Good to know you enjoyed the car too. Mk 2 Grannie v underrated, they were among the best cars in their class but lacked a prestige badge.
