Which engine for this driving profile?

Talking of what new van to get for my mum and her business.

Basically she drives 25 miles of dual carriageway in the morning, then spends the rest of the day doing door to door deliveries and stopping too have a chat with customers, restock, etc. Then 25 miles of DC back home.

Is 50mi daily of dual carriageway and eight hours of stop-start/parked up going to cause any reliability problems for, say, a Ford duratorq diesel? Or would you go with a petrol.

duratorq diesel sounds perfect for that role to be honest

Of course the optimal engine is a 500 or 600cc petrol, that way you skip the stop start traffic altogether.
