NOOOO... Not a 7 Seater but 3 Childseats in the rear
Discussion
So, the Misses has a Nice Clio , nothing wrong with it and as a rule it's a nice car to drive, etc. But we have 2 kids and we are increasingly having to take 2 cars places as we have the kids friends on sleepovers, etc. and cant put 3 child seats in the rear.
So any suggestions other than a 7 seater ? ( As least I now know why people have them with only 2 kids).
If it has to be a 7 seater, suggestions?( Me and the Misses would both rather not). Budget about 5K ish. the less the better as it's going to get abused around town, trips full of kids etc.

£1650 for me, no thanks... Thats a great idea made ridiculously expensive. Get an S-SMAX or a Galaxy, the best option, just sold ours for £6500 a few weeks back, had it for 7 years and it aquitted itself well, not cool, but it handled well, was comfy, didnt break and handled every family duty thrown at it, was even decent to drive.
Once you come to terms with it, get the best car for the job, then you get the side benefits of being able to cart kids friends around (dubious benefit) in one car, you get a van for tip runs and moving stuff and they dont lose that much money from that price.

Just too big for our needs, We want Scenic would be ok but not ideal. would prefer a car rather then MPV. Although it this rate looks like we'll be sticking to taking 2 cars! Problem is 5 seaters generally don't have 3 individual seats in the back which TBH is what you want.
You will get people on here saying they managed perfectly well with 3 kids all in seats in the back of a 3 series so why go for anything bigger.
WE had a Mondeo when my wife had our 3rd, we changed to a 7 seater within 3 months.
Just too much hassle getting them in and fastening the belts.
What about a Corolla Verso?
Yes I know they are 7 seaters but they are small for a 7 seater and have 3 individual seats in the back. Most of the time the 3rd row will be down and out of the way.
Decent compromise IMO.

We have 3 kids, all on boosters now and my wife wants to get rid of the SMAX for a faster estate car or maybe an SUV of some kind.
The problem is that the SMAX is specifically designed with young kids in mind and it's not just about the 3 individual seats in the back, it's about the cavernous storage boxes, massive boot and general usability of the thing. We both want an Alfa 159 sportswagon but when you actually try to get a wriggling 3 year old into the rear center seat and do up the belt, whilst there is a 5 year old and a 7 year old either side fighting to get their belts in - in a hurry it's a horrible nightmare.
That said we'll probably get a V70R or XC70, 5 series Touring or S6 Avant in the next 12 months or so, people carriers really make you wish you'd never had kids.

Misses Said the Verso, but getting on a bit now design wise it's an old car, but she likes toyota as used to work for them. I'll have a look myself. this will mainly be her car so will see.You will get people on here saying they managed perfectly well with 3 kids all in seats in the back of a 3 series so why go for anything bigger.

Been using a 4 yr old XC70 recently, great family car even more so in rural situations , really grew on me as I hated it at first, now I love it. But the middle seat in the back is a glorified drinks holder/arm rest my step daughter hated sitting on it as it was a very hard seat and not that well thought out for a family car . Otherwise it was really goodThe problem is that the SMAX is specifically designed with young kids in mind and it's not just about the 3 individual seats in the back, it's about the cavernous storage boxes, massive boot and general usability of the thing. Just been through this very dilemma - prefer a wagon to a 7-seater. Originally went with a Gen 4 Liberty wagon, which worked for two booster seats and an infant capsule, but as soon as the eldest was out of the booster, suddenly she had no shoulder room. Have now landed on a 2008 V70 - two built-in boosters in the rear means plenty of shoulder room for the kids.
Downsides are many, unless you're a Volvo fan, but its definitely big enough. Boot is huge too.
Newer Outback might be an option. Alternatively, pop down to your local Vauxhall dealer and see if he can get his mitts on a new Commodore wagon. Enormous inside and can be had with a 6.0-litre V8.
