I have no doubt these things prevent accidents when the driver is not paying attention or on their phone. When I'm driving (and paying attention) they are a PITA. I was in a car with collision warning a few months ago, and it was a nightmare of bonging and flashing. It appeared to fail completely to identify cars in the adjacent lanes that were completing manoeuvres, and had trouble with sharp bends.
This encapsulates my feelings rather well. Some while ago I had to stop very sharply, really sharply, when a kid on a bike jumped out from the middle of a row of parked cars on my right and landed in the middle of the road right in front. I stopped but by heck it was close. Fortunately had pegged the speed right back as there was clearly something going on, maybe goid observation, maybe spidery sixth sense I really don't know. The point I'm getting to is that if hadn't been paying attention wouldn't have slowed down, if driving along thinking got this magic system perhaps wouldn't have slowed down, going any quicker than I was couldn't have avoided hitting him.

This is the essence of many these developments, it sends a message to those of a certain mindset that paying attention can be offset by nanny electronics. Brasses me off when I see folks trickling along in traffic, eyes down Instfacetweeting, relying on the collision avoidance. Usually girlies.

Anyway, I would point out that I was categorically NOT tail-gating.
The point stands that the computer thought you were. One of you were right. Computers are often wrong and people often lie...

Get a dash cam to prove the problem and go back to the dealer with it.

And post it here, of course.

Ever noticed on busy motorways the amount of cars with rapidly flashing brake lights ? They are setting off the EBA systems. It a very good way to demonstrate who the crap & or inattentive drivers are on the roads, of which there are many!

Unless they are in a VW Tiguan where as demonstrated in the above video they will do this randomly, though that's the collision avoidance system but same effect if you are behind. I too have experienced it several times in one, hateful hateful cars anyway, you deserve it for buying one.
