Love the unique qualities of the M Coupe. It combines a lot of what we miss in cars of old... with a lot of what we expect of cars today. But with fewer of the detractions typical of each era.

All hail the Clown Shoe!

However, given the choice offered in this article, above, I'd go for the Z4 M each and every time.

I wanted one of these, but couldn't find one (at all!) and ended up with a TVR Chimaera instead. Pity, really, because although the TVR didn't lose value particularly quickly, it lost it nonetheless.

Actually, I think the Z4M Coupe is even more rare?
4500 in total, 1700 in LHD euro spec.
Also it's got 343hp, M3 CSL brakes and multilink rear axle.
I love mine. smile

This view right here is why I bought mine. Which is mint with 22k on the clock in carbon black with red leather. Gives me a boner just saying it wink

Stupid prices!

I bought mine for £10k and sold it for £14k with 59k on the clock back in 2012

Would rather the Z4M now

That is a speculative pricing at it's best. I love these, the styling is spot on.

How much longer before this madness ends? Investment cars, really, apparently the taste of wine improves as it ages. Which means that older cars are........errrrm, older. Nope still don't understand. Ah well, what goes up must .......errrrrm, keep on going up. Nope still don't understand.

I love these - I have never seen that colour before though, that's ace. The price seems steep though, they must have risen sharply, I distinctly remember seeing these for much less only a short few years ago.

Is it true they can be a bit of a handful?

I have always liked their quirky nature and how original they are but that is serious money, my regret is that I used to have a Z4M Roadster when I should have gone for the far more cool and sexy Z4M Coupe and just kept it as they could be sought after also one day.

this model is the S54 M coupe in RHD its very rare too, just 73 examples and this blue example could go over
60.000 gbp in a few years when in a good state and low miles.

I can't 1st gen Z4C's dropping much more. I imagine a Z4M is unlikely to lose much more at all, and other Z4C's will rise a little later afterwards.

And after that? 130i hatches will go up in time but I imagine they're a good 15 years off that. (Not anywhere near 45k though!)

Much as I'd love a breadvan in my (currently non existent) 'garage', I did look at them a couple of years ago when I bought my Z4MC and they seemed relatively expensive at the time, now even more so! To be fair I was not in the market to speculate and chose the 4 as to my eyes it's a lovely looking thing (which I think is difficult to say about the breadvan much as I love it) and for my designs a better suited vehicle. Perhaps I made a mistake, but since I'm in no hurry to sell and I have a feeling the Z4MC might follow this madness price rising I'm pretty ok with my choice.
The engine is a masterpiece, one of the main reasons I looked at them after my e46m3cs, however the driving experience is a whole lot more brutal, can be a challenge and is FUN. I will try and keep hold of it for some time, regardless of it's value.

Add a CSL airbox and you get this noise smile

These things appeal to me in a way that the later Z4MC never has. Pity I've never been able to fit in them though, as they're tiny inside frown
