I really like like the look of these cars and ran one a few years ago now. But I didn't like the fact it aquaplaned at the slightest sniff of water and the leather seats were really unsupportive and slidy so I spent a fair amount of time trying to get my ar& out of the footwell.

I would still have another one though...

^^^ I'm not normally a fan of Estoril Blue, but in the Z3MC I think it looks lovely

Err. That's my car. Please don't tell me you've seen it in Manchester recently, as I don't think it's been far from my house in Leicestershire in the last 11 months...

Each to their own but to dismiss a CSL as a boring modified family car is, IMHO, way, way off the mark...

Haha, don't worry.

By recently I mean late August last year. I had gone to the Bridgewater Hall to see my daughter's graduation.

Walking back to the car park afterwards, I saw your car parked down a side street with literally half a dozen people around it taking photos.

My photo doesn't do the colour justice - in reality it is absolutely stunning

fk me. You're right. So either I'm a colour blind sucker or you can't follow a thread? Or both.

I had a Roadster - nice car but handling was floppy and the engine (S50) lacked character low down the rev range.

The Coupe looks fab from behind and is such a bizarre, uniquecar that I understand why prices have gone the way they have. I don't think they're good value when you think about what else you can buy for the money, but that's the nature of a speculative market.

As an aside, is this the only modern hard-top BMW without a Hofmeister Kink?

The colour varies from being a green that I don't particularly like thru gold to a yellowy gold. It's the sun that makes the colour, I guess that's why it's called Phoenix Yellow.

It's a characterful car. The gearing is a bit too long if I'm being picky.

The CSL is a massively regarded bit of kit for sure, its just that I prefer cars that are built to be sporty in the first place rather than something based as a run of the mill family car that is modified to be made good.

I always think these look like something George Barris the legendary custom car designer would do if presented with a normal Z3 and told to put a roof on it.

Chap near where I used to live had one of these in blue. He was actually using it as his work van, with a roof rack on the top and all his tools in the back. I thought it looked brilliant! That was my first hint that tradesmen prices in London were going to be a bit higher than those in the Midlands...fancy turning up on site in that. cool

I have a Laguna Seca Blue Z3M Coupe and what amazes me is how much positive reaction it gets….often at petrol stations etc folk will ask what model it is and say they love it.
I’ve seldom had any positive reaction in my Porsche.

I think the difference is that a week never goes by when I don't see most models of Porsche, whereas Z3MCs are pretty few and far between - although there were 2 at the Haynes Breakfast Club last month!

They are just stunning. thumbup

great and rare color, worth a premium.

I once had such in my phoenixyellow s54 M coupe (Z3) when I was out in a city and returned to my car, I had to look something up on my phone, a couple of young people came over to my car, knocked on the side window to talk, hey mister, what kind of kar is this, is it a new prototype :-) and wow nice car, they loved it.

I said no, its just an old car (ok not that old at the time) not many made of.

this one back then
