The most fun FWD cars?
Discussion
All this talk of handling
I would like to nominate the 198? Daihatsu charade turbo. Mad 3 cylinder engine, cornered like a go kart on smooth tarmac, and a hoot to drive.
My father owned it's little brother : the Handivan. With a mighty 660cc NA triple, kei car size, and tiny-commercial-van springing, it was the fastest 4-wheel vehicle I've driven through a particular set of "traffic calming" chicanes.

Had rear wheel drive very fast mgf trophy 160 and drove a few of my dads hot hatches, but the renaultsport twingo is unbelievably fun. Just drove up to Scotland from Lincoln and it ticked all the boxes on the way. Maybe could do with a few more horsepower ??
I've been lucky enough to own a few of the cars mentioned:
Classic Mini (still owned)
Alfa Sud 1.3
Corrado 1.8 16v and VR6
MK1, Mk2 and MK7 GTI
Lotus Elan SE turbo (still owned)
And one not mentioned ....... Lancia Fulvia
Of all of them the Mk7 is the most competent, the Mini the most fun at legal speeds and the most fun overall is the Lotus.
