Would a car cover of some description help I wonder? I know its a pain to put it on and take it off but if it keeps the car dry then I'm not averse to it.
I'm on the lookout for a good outdoor cover at the moment. I've been told that the level half cover is probably the best bet. It just covers the cabin area and fits in to the boot and bonnet to stop water ingress here. As it only covers the window space it won't damage paintwork etc.

ETA: may have to haggle a little or save a little more
I was thinking about these a few months ago until I was got a chance to drive one. Definitely too hardcore, I'm not put off by the reliability or the usability though, colleague at work uses his every single day irrespective of weather so I know they are up to it.

Well at least you have tried one to rule it out. As a weekend toy I find mine about right on the hardcore front, I would't use one as a daily again though.

Hope you find something, there are loads of interesting cars for £10k. Would of loved to of said M Coupe but they are climbing fast, the M roadster is still low(ish).

Well, this will take a little haggling, and you'd probably want to return it to original condition at some stage - perhaps sooner rather than later?! - but I think this would meet pretty much all your requirements (MPG might be touch-and-go though!)...Clio V6:

Or for something a little more grown up; Jaguar XKR:

FD RX7s. £10k gets a seriously desirable special edition like the Type RS or Bathurst. Just make sure it's near standard.

Clio v6 was going to be. One of my suggestions. That is the cheapest on the page by a long long long way.

Classic Impreza STi Type-R (2dr)

Keeping an eye on the prices recently and they're creeping up. Still within budget though!

That Clio is looking sorry for itself, seems like quite a lot of work needed to bring it back up to standard. I think it will go on the list though. Cheers for the suggestion.

What is the consensus on an Integra Type R? People rave about them, unfortunately I know nothing about it! Are they all imports?

DC2 is not an import. DC5 are imports from Japan, so they are RHD. The DC5 is notably more powerful.

I'm perhaps biased as I've owned the UK version for 6 years. Great cars imo, inexpensive to run, fantastic driving experience and I can honestly still say each drive is still an event. Weak point is rust, rear arches specifically. This however can be easily sorted. Very reliable with a virtually bullet proof power plant if properly maintained. I've a jdm manifold and cat on mine which provides the same power as the jdm version.

For clarity I'm talking about the ukdm dc2. Jdm dc2 is the jap import.

S2000.

/thread.

ETA - with an aftermarket exhaust and intake for more eventful sound. Still very achievable in budget.
I've been driven in one a few years ago, the fun of revving to 9000 rpm and doing silly speeds as a consequence was lost on me if I'm honest.
Why consider integra type r's then? The S2000 is superior.

Also if you don't want a car that revs go buy a diesel.

S2000

Obviously!

I truly believe no other car answers this 'what car?' so well. Never again will there be an engine like that in a mass produced car. It's the definition of iconic.

Awesome cars. The steering is Amazing. But suffers from the same issues as the 2000. Not much torque low down you end up thrashing the tits off it everywhere. Which I fun but licence unfriendly and anti social. smile

Mkiv Supra twin turbo would meet all of your criteria, would struggle to get a 6 speed for 10k these days but a clean auto would be well within reach.
