Any ideas on how the residuals are going to hold up given that most dealers will be getting 3 or 4 cars this year?
How long is a piece of string?

Waaaaay too early yet to have any idea.

And I wouldn't say most dealers will be getting 3 or 4 this year at all, it would seem only the big dealers with a high ///M sales will be getting 3 or 4 allocated, and therefore most dealers are only getting about 2 for 2016.
If EVO, Car, Car and Driver etc come out with a 'best M since the E30' AND there is limited supply then it'll be rock solid.

Mediocre reviews and many of them and it's BAU for a BMW.

A major consideration for me as I have limited disposable income to dedicate to cars' depreciation so discussing/guessing what this particular car will do in terms of residuals is quite important to some : the better the residuals, the cheaper my driving becomes and the better the car I can get for my budget.

A very fair point. I'm starting to think that doubling the amount I spend on cars would actually save me money as the more expensive cars barely depreciate!

Quite ironic but also true in a lot of examples, either very new and limited or older but rare seems to work out well.

Understood. I think it's a given that the M2 will have strong residuals though.

Not exactly a huge choice of colours based on the brochure....

....or for the interior. frown

I'm guessing they are hoping to make additional sales from the 'Individual' range, hopefully not all 'Ferrari Red' wink

Yup, one colour and 3 shades of monochrome.....with coal bunker black only interior.

'Individual' options are not available for the M2.

Very likely indeed but time will tell. Its only problem is the discounted or almost new M3/M4. Same weight, same width.

I bet you either buyers couldn't care about the width or the weight

I think some do and don't care if a majority don't.

What are all these potential buyers buying if not an M3/4 due to weight?

Had a look at the one at Sytners Nottingham - that faux interior carbon is laughable!
Cheap as cheap can be and I don't think theres an option to change it.

Seats are pretty bog standard too, which is a shame as the rest of the car looks ok (ish).

..I even had a play on the configurator, boy the options mount up quickly.
On the contrary, there are very few options on this car - even if you tick every box it doesn't add that much on to the basic vehicle price unlike all other BMW models

The open pore carbon is none clear coated carbon fibre. I actually don't mind it, there is a lot of clear coat on the M3/4 CF - it's quite full on and shiny and reflective. I think both look good personally.

Er, it's real carbon fibre.

Really?
Feels horrible, and the one I looked at the centre console around the gear knob was wobbly and bendy!

Carbon fibre can be incredibly flexible if its just trim. Structural parts are much thicker and have more weave, the trim is just for effect so is a thin part which will flex just like plastic.
