Fair play but i dont think many owners claim its a focused,'feely'bad boy....
it is (was),as a few have pointed out tbf,a good looking, quick, limited edition estate car....... (although i have been in a few tweaked B5's and you could not label them 'not that quick' by any means ) Note: i 'may' be slightly biased, but then i have owned a Boxster S in the past and whilst it definately had more 'feel' it never offered me as much as the B5.

I've been round the 'Ring 5-up in a yellow B5 RS4. It was fast in a straight line, but I'm not sure all that weight in the car did it many favours. hehe I fondly remember chasing after two of them in my little Clio. biggrin

For me the two things I couldn't help thinking after the initial time with mine was too quiet and too floaty at speed, as well as not having to much faith in the brakes - had a couple of very nervy stops from speed.

Mine went from near stock, to somewhere around 470+ bhp, with a full Milltek exhaust, uprated ARB's and coilovers, and B7 RS4 brakes. At that stage, it stayed a very comfortable estate car, but one that sounded like it should have done, felt well planted, and stopped without any real issues - I didn't feel the need to go any further modifying the car. I had a passenger compare the performance to a sports bike due to the way it just kept pulling..

I was offered first refusal on the car when the next owner was selling up, but unfortunately a case of bad timing (house purchase) meant I couldn't reasonably buy it back.

Always been a big fan of the B5 RS4 but could never quite afford one, or more truthfully justify the expense. Now 11 years into my B5 S4 ownership I am thinking that I should have gone the RS4 route as they benefit from glacial depreciation. The S4 has been a fantastic steed, but like all S4 owners I have always had a craving for the RS4. It just looks the part when the S4 is just too understated.

I loved this car so much when Chris harris drove that at 20 years old I saved every penny I earned and bought my perfect B5! Expensive girl to run but its doable. If anyone is thinking about it do LOTs of research and just do it! I love it so much!

I was genuinely torn between buying the B5 RS4 and an RS2 a few years ago. Head ruled over heart and I decided to wait for the optimum B5 RS4 to turn up for sale over the diminishing availability of 'good' RS2s at the time. I'm glad I did. By every conceivable metric the B5 RS4 is the better car: The B5 RS4 was custom engineered and hand-built on Audi's quattro gmbh production line whilst the RS2 was essentially an old Audi 80 Avant tub shipped over to Porsche for fettling. I'd love an RS2 for the rawness and Porsche creds, and it is The Daddy. But as a package, the B5 RS4 has to be the 'go to' RS model.
