Are these Vloggers just a scam? SOL or Shmee etc???????
Discussion
In answer to the original message, it's an age thing.
The group of them that are doing the bulk of the vlogging right now (Shmee, SOL, STG, TGETV, MRJWW and to a lesser extent Archie and Seb) I think provide really fantastic levels of production for the vast quantity of content they provide. I really couldn't be arsed to edit that amount of video in a week, nevermind actually record it, think it up, plan it, then actually do it.
The likes of MrJWW provides the "experience", SOL provides the "I love these cars", TGE provides the "sod it, I like it I bought it", Shmee is trying to do the whole "car review game" and the rest fill in with a bit of "real" world experience.
The joy of youtube is that, if you don't want to watch it, DON'T.
For my part, some of the content isn't as good as others, some is awesome. I commend them for trying, many wouldn't be able to do it, many can't be arsed to try. I only wish I could do the same, but I lack the enthusiasm, the inclination, and probably the ability.
They also often say, "if you want to be a YouTuber, do it!" If you don't like the content you see, all you have to do is make some yourself, or don't watch it and stick to the old fashioned media.

Looks like sam's 540c is up for sale already! With his friend Tony (who is awesome on vids btw).

I hope he goes back to an F-Type. I absolutely loved the F Type and I've watched only a couple of videos from Sam since he sold it; though I do enjoy his content. Was a little bit disappointed when he moved to a Mclaren; I'm not sure why. Maybe the Jag was a bit different to the normal 'supercars'.http://www.gravelwood.co.uk/used-car-mclaren-540c-...
On that note, i still haven't watched any of Paul/SOL's stuff. not a fan at all.
Staggering that Seb's last two videos have been an interview with Archie, and going with Archie to collect his R8. With the Lotus wrap video and now this it really does look like he's struggling for ideas.
And it pains me to say, because he really is such a nice, sweet kid. Genuinely lovely.

Not only that he's been broking supercars in Monaco since before he was old enough to drive according to the latest "what were your previous jobs and what motivated you to succeed" cringefest on I think Mr JWW's feed. As an aside.... Henry Catchpole just turned up on CarFection reviewing the 720s spider...
570S....That would be because Drivetribe is dead. May not be public yet, but funding has been pulled so expect the main guys to turn up elsewhere soon.

Interesting really... Seems this car review gig isn't as easy as it sounds, at least from a organisation standpoint. I know they were also doing other stuff with the social aspect, but the pros not having an easy time of it.

I wonder if he regrets leaving EVO.
I'd guess so. Funny that Jethro left Evo for another of these startups years back - Driven was it? - then went back and did it again recently for Drivetribe. Not sure he'll be welcomed back a second time!Motor1 is this week's darling, they're chucking money at it, hiring loads of people. Let's see how that pans out...
Sorry to hear that about Drivetribe.
But I guess it just shows how difficult it is to make money/a living out of this. Social media provides opportunity, but that opportunity means there's a degree of over-crowding too.
If I want a review of the 720S I have all the usual magazines and a gazillion different YouTube Vloggers/reviewers to choose from now. Advertisers can afford to be choosy and presumably have the whip hand in negotiating rates - you don't like the deal? We'll offer it to the next guy instead....

I think they are all pretty entertaining EXCEPT schmee, can't fking stand the tt. I don't know what it is about him. Just gets on my nerves.
Cars with Luke is also an excellent channel on YouTube. That's probably one of the best.
No need for that chav boy. He comes on here and posts and shares views. Even if he is not my favorite, fair play to the chap. You are scum for stooping so low.Cars with Luke is also an excellent channel on YouTube. That's probably one of the best.
I feel the issue right now is all the major automotive related channels on YT have reached their peak and they're running out of ideas. The other issue is a lot of YT'bers are intertwined with each other compared to couple years ago which has resulted in the same content been uploaded multiple times. I'm not sure what these channels can do differently to grow their viewers/subs because they're limited financially plus when it comes to automotive content there's really nothing exclusive or groundbreaking you can film nowadays because every other channel has access to the same media events and track days.
With all that been said, I still support these channels, watch the content daily with no adblocker so they can make money because at the end of the day it still takes a lot of time and effort to upload content daily as good or bad it might be.

some harsh comments there on Shmee, sure hes not everyone's cup of tea but give the guy a break!
My two cents I do watch some of the vids these guys put out there but in the last while it seems a lot of the content is overlapping with the car launches etc so there is simply too much content that's too similar.
Another point I find disappointing is the use being made of some of the cars...TGE driving around London in a GT3RS seems like a waste of an epic machine, same with SOL and the Lambo and the other guys who have Mclarens....going on track with these cars would make for more interesting viewing, maybe a track day at the ring or something like that. I'm pretty sure they could get the entry fees waived from one of the organisers given the exposure they can offer.

Agree the abuse is pretty vile, and uncalled for. Make it constructive or shadddapppppp. Got to take your hat off to the guy regardless. My two cents I do watch some of the vids these guys put out there but in the last while it seems a lot of the content is overlapping with the car launches etc so there is simply too much content that's too similar.

Further re the 'driving around London in a GT3RS' comment - that was the whole point of my last video. And I live in London, with a GT3RS. Inevitable there's going to be footage of it in London. And if I was to smash it around a track I wouldn't broadcast that endlessly anyway. Although I did commute in the GT3RS this morning for lols
