Y'know what, man? You're alright. XD

I'm not sure how I'd react to a strange man on the internet saying he thinks I'm not sexually attractive, but that's certainly a standard you've set there.
Initialdave, actually you could be my type. Send me a pic. Dont think I am gay , but if i ever change my mind .I will let you know.

Thanks, I'll take that as a compliment, but I'm sure you'll find someone eventually.

Is Archie Hamilton one of those folks who look younger as they get older? In his Corvette collection video he keeps banging on about his "old days" racing Corvettes, yet the dude looks 18?
I thought the same, when I came across him. The internet reports he is 26.

Ah right, so not that old. But not as young as he looks. He got a Corvette so I assumed he must be getting on for 40 at least (joke obviously, I love Corvettes although C7's not that much)

By good you mean he can afford a Ferrari, a cameraman, decent camera and lens but can't afford an actual mount so it doesn't bounce around all over the place causing motion sickness or a trip to the barbers?

Must admit I vomited and promptly unfollowed him after reading the caption to his Corvette reveal photo on Instagram:

"One year ago I was driving an old Audi A1, and now a total dream has become reality.... Thank you all so much for the support - it means the world!"

Quite possibly the most cringeworthy and pathetic attempt at a "rags to riches" post I've ever seen. And very revealing once analysed.

For starters... the phrase "an old Audi A1" is a ridiculous paradox - even putting aside that his was a 2011 S Line probably worth about £10k, you can't get an Audi A1 older than 2010 and the cheapest ones out there are £6k... for most of his minion audience that is not an old car and might be a dream purchase in itself.

Next... (in context) how on earth is owning a Corvette "a total dream" considering years of racing them and having access to millions worth of sports cars through the family business?

Finally... can I assume that 10 million views from 79,000 subscribers doesn't yield enough ad revenue to even put down a 10% deposit on said Corvette?

So, please, go convince someone else that you've worked hard for everything as I'm not buying it. Same thing that made me unfollow Seb D... if you come from money, just leave the subject alone. Or even embrace it like JWW does. Why do they feel they need to make fools of themselves convincing people otherwise?

In my books Paul Wallace is the only one who has a right to peddle that line. TGE as well possibly. And well deserved.

You appear to know a lot more about these people than I do, but nonetheless your post does make a number of assumptions that all come across as saying more about you than of them. Just because some of these YouTubers (may) have rich fathers doesn't mean they haven't worked for every penny they themselves have. Equally just because some of the others don't have public school accents doesn't mean they've grafted for every penny they have.

Perhaps I'm being unfair to single your post out because there are plenty of others on this thread that reek of the same underlying prejudice. I cannot stand the content of Seb but I'd never assume he hasn't worked for his money any less hard than Paul Wallace appears to have done.

The point you miss is that "the money" you refer to isn't quite what it is cracked up to be but does however comprise the underlying bait designed to attract the aspirational/hard of thinking/kid using the village computer in a far flung land.

The liftsetyle as portrayed is not funded in its entirety by hard work and YT revenues. Instead what happens is that a privileged position in life is leveraged successfully as a platform. QED the existing lifestyle is in fact what drives the ability to live the YT life. On occasion a back story is alluded to concerning previous business interests and YT commentators then leap on the "how can I be like you / where did you learn about business / can you teach me about the stock market " question bandwagon. Whilst of course it would be wrong to assume that everything was predicated upon handouts a bit of knowledge, a few conversations with people who know people and the odd educated guess makes it clear that not everything is derived from the combination of cars and Go-Pros.

In no particular order on this very thread we have under discussion a member of the peerage, descendants of three multi million pound retail dynasties, plus the sons of automotive racing/retail aristocracy and the former CEO of the governing body of a hugely lucrative international sport. Oh and not forgetting a bloke who lives at home with his mum in Watford.

What's the point of this ? Well scratch the surface and behind the glitz and glamour there's real life and some people's version of that is very different to others'.

I was going to say I've been waiting for someone to call them out, but I guess the real car youtubers generally just don't care about them and instead turn a blind eye to their bullst.

It must annoy them all deep down to know that if they didn't have the money and the nice cars no one would watch them. Would anyone for example watch a shmee and companions video if they had a Renaultsport Clio or something a bit more modest? Doubt it. That would annoy me knowing that I'm not making content that's particularly creative or different. If you want to watch a Ferrari/Aston [insert generic supercar vlogger car here]wouldn't you just watch an Evo/Drivetribe/Harry's Garage/Autocar video instead? I genuinely don't know where the 100k plus subscribers come from...are they legit accounts or just a product of endorsement by their other rich friends.

The rich parents/hand fed thing is a silly assumption in my experience. A friend of mine from university was a normal guy, had nice clothes etc but had to get two jobs while he was studying (as did I) and was a really good bloke, very modest.

A couple of years after we graduated I happened to give him a lift back to his parents house one christmas to find a sodding great mansion, helicopter on the rear lawn, a selection of supercars and Rolls in the garages and apparently five or six other properties around the world, along with a massive yacht. Dad is a billionaire.

Turns out with all his kids he cut them off when they turned 18, off you into the world and make your own way. Got a lot of respect for that.

Yes but that isn't quite happening in these examples.

Also need to look beyond your assumption that there is a further assumption that handouts pay for the toys albeit one or two may well have benefitted from what might be termed "capital events".

Edited to add - there's nothing wrong with any of that and neither is it right to expect full disclosure. What grates though is the continued inference that it's all about hard work and "you too could be like me" implications for the #goals generation. Truth is the vast majority can't and won't ever but this doesn't sell or produce the clicks.

to me that's an ahole move, it admonishes the parent of any responsibility of educating their kids properly, its a cop out just so they don't get embarrassed by a paris hilton type kid that shows up how bad a parent they are

Agree. Sounds like an A-hole or someone that didn't want to share his toys!
