Tim, Trading212 sponsoring Fuel Faction. Genuine question, aside from the dubiousness of the company (gambling masquerading as stock market trading) - you have your pick of sponsors, why them?

Genuine answer, industries like gambling, trading etc have the biggest advertising budgets - look at Premier League football teams, look at other supercar rally style events, look at high profile ad slots on television. If a company in a less controversial industry would even come close to the sponsorship offer then it would open up a discussion but they don't (by a factor of 10) and we have to look at it as a business position.

Obviously I'm well aware there will be backlash from a number of people, it's happened before and it will happen again but we have to judge that position as it comes and decide if the loss of followers/rep damage equates to the content opportunity, enjoyment of the trip, growth of a new brand and outright income stream is worth it. The sponsorship itself is actually of Fuel Faction, rather than Shmee150 like before so there is a big difference in how it will be portrayed to the audience so as not to overkill it like before. At the end of the day, the raw cost of a trip like this before even considering mileage associated costs on the cars is about £15k (Trucking, tour management, 10 hotel rooms everywhere, ferries, flights etc) and it's actually really enjoyable to go on such a trip with 15 or so friends and this makes it possible.

It's not to everybody's liking, fair, but please come along with a strong offer from another industry and we can talk about it for sure.

Why? Trading212 won't get any money.

Tim, as always, you've answered my question, and once again appreciated.

Honest answer from you. From a business standpoint, (company aside) the money they offer, far more than any competitors, makes the trip worth doing. You will be able to generate interesting content and an amount of your subscribers will watch it.

Getting to go on a trip, crossing multiple countries in supercars with a group of friends will be awesome. Both you and I agree with that.

Personally, i'd view the risk to reputation too high, as accepting money from a controversial company may cause people to question your integrity.

Your main demographic according to Youtube is in the male age range around the 25-40 mark. (Correct me if i'm wrong as i'm sure only you can see that - you've mentioned before and it was higher than I expected.) However a lot of these accounts could be parents accounts that younger/vunerable viewers could be using - marketing Trading212 in this way could be interpreted as irresponsible. For that reason, I won't watch any content with that sponsor attached. I unsubscribed from MrJWW for a period of time for the same reason.

Then again i'm not in your position, and not running your business. I'm only one subscriber, who won't watch that particular content! I suppose if you lost subscribers in droves it would change your position.

Not seeking to offend anyone, especially as I know both people in question are active in this thread, but could anyone kindly explain what's happening between Shmee and TGE?

I don't want to support Shmee's channel since he is using these scumbags for a holiday.

I am calm. HTH.
Anyone who cares 'what is going on' between 'TGE and shmee' needs to get a life in my opinion.

As opposed to 'us' who comment on people who comment about youtubers and what might be going between them... yeah you tell 'em John...hehe

re: 212, I tend to agree... does leave a bitter after taste when a high paying gambling site is used to sponsor what is in effect a guy and his mates driving there and back....
Watching reviews and access to special events, and unique opportunities is one thing...watching them go on holiday is another...
That said if 212 want to sponsor my next roadtrip..I will happily put my nose in that trough hehe

Glad you find it so terribly amusing. I am not trying to 'tell anyone', merely stating that I think it's sad to be concerned. You're right, it's probably very sad to comment on those who are interested in the relationship between TGE and Shmee but I find it even more weird that this was the persons very first post.

Well that's the whole point, they will. Advertising on a Youtube channel where a successful young man drives his fleet of supercars across europe for a jolly and has earnt his money in the 'city' (read: Trading) is purely in the interests of Trading 212 as young, easy influenced viewers will think they too can have a fleet of supercars. All they need to do is give Trading 212 their £250 intial deposit and off they go into the world of blatting supercars across the world.

Or not.

It is interesting how different channels get differing levels of subscribers. Shmee just getting to 1 Million compared to the gaming channels that mostly do videos where they scream and shout around with 10m+ etc. 12m Subscribers to Failarmy FFS rofl A clip show of people hurting themselves in various ways. Youtube supercar bloggers don't get anywhere near as much audience as people think they do in reality!
