I see from Instagram that there is an "Influencers Tent" at this weekend's Goodwood Festival of Speed where a number of the people discussed on this thread will be displaying their motorcars.
I wonder if the 'influencers' will be hanging around to greet the Great Unwashed or will they retreat to the guarded compound with the other celebs/drivers.
Michelin are looking after Paul and Sam quite well, not sure if that's part of the tent you mention.I wonder if the 'influencers' will be hanging around to greet the Great Unwashed or will they retreat to the guarded compound with the other celebs/drivers.

On a similar note, the Shell sponsored content from STG keeps appearing in my Facebook feed as an advert/promoted content, so they are obviously spending some money 'activating' their partnership rather than just expecting to reach existing subscribers.I suspect you can get a lot of Youtube content and social media promotion for the cost of a single traditional TV or magazine advert.
Interesting to see Schmee had access to the RS5 last week yet car throttle and paul just got theirs yesterday. Tim, have you managed to battle your way out of being grouped as an "influencer" now?
I was driving the CT RS5 today, not a fan. Very fast and very cool looking, but the new engine has no character and the body control across the average UK b road is pretty bad, you really feel the weight, no matter what suspension mode you're in.

I turned that clip off after 2 mins. I have no idea how he managed to be so enthusiastic about Audis usual exterior frippery. Pointing at bits of chrome and plastic tat like it was groundbreaking new tech.I was driving the CT RS5 today, not a fan. It's a shame if that is the case and he has to 'temper' his views.
Just conjecture on my part.

He's hardly a motoring 'heavyweight' and I d imagine if he slates the car he d be blackballed from having audis in the future .

It's rare to find anyone slate a car that they've been lent for that reason. YouTubers wouldn't make anything if no one would lend them a car to film with. It's easy pickings for manufacturers because they know all the coverage will be positive. It's a shame if that is the case and he has to 'temper' his views.
Just conjecture on my part.

As you say, these Vloggers aren't heavy weights, so should be honest about the cars which are a bit crap. Call it a public service. Doug Demuro is, and it doesn't seem to do him any harm, apart from precious little fanboys filling up his comments section The world is already chock full of horse schitt people talking horse schitt behind fake smiles, without vloggers adding to it.

Tim has a million subs, and his videos probably capture a million views a week. How is he not a heavyweight? EVO magazine has a sub 50k circulation...
Whose he backed by ?! What production company , tv station ?
broadcaster ?!
does an manufacturer need Tim more than he needs them?! no there's plenty of tims waiting to fill his shoes .
I m not saying any of it is right in an ethical sense and I enjoy some of tims content but against a manufacturer like Audi Tim is small potatoes .

I could turn up with a production company, backed by motors TV and about 16 people would watch it. Why should audi care about that? They want the new car infront of a lot of people, with the reviewer being mostly positive.
Times are changing, you don't need a TV company or a magazine. You need reach. Tim has that.
Yes, I'm sure any of the other youtubers would take his place if they could, but he has the UK reach.
Who is big potatos in the world of Audi then? Other than Top Gear.

Now if a manufacturer will stick one finger up to the biggest motoring show in the world with a huge global reach do you think they would bat an eye lid about Tim ?!
Times are changing and and that's reflected in the access these youtubers are being given , however it's on a smaller scale.
My original post was as stated at the time conjecture as to whether Tim really liked the car or was afraid of pissing off the wrong people . Only Tim knows that

I think there's a lot more context to this, I didn't try to say that I liked the car much; to be honest it didn't feel right to me and I tried to list off the things I wasn't a fan of.My videos are positioned at showing the car rather than trying to compete with Autocar or EVO. For example that's highlighting the headline facts and numbers, explaining why things are done from the manufacturer's viewpoint, then describing how you go into modes and the results of changing settings. In general terms I avoid opinion and am more just trying to actually show it for the viewer to decide and pointing out the exciting things I do like.

Tim is that your Focus on the BOTB stand are they giving away your actual car as the sticker on the side suggest's
The wording has been made a bit too ambiguous and I believe it is being changed to be clearer that it means a Focus RS in general rather than my actual car.Shmee said:

Much appreciated. Missed an upload Sunday evening, but with the launch of LDNM Meals that evening I was up to my neck anyway.
Next video should be tomorrow night - pitching a helicopter against a GTC4Lusso in a race to Le Mans from circa 60km south of the track.
Great video, pal. To be fair, I can see why some people may dislike your style, but that's because some people are resentful and toxic. I see a wealthy guy enjoying life and enjoying cars. Hats off to you sir! Next video should be tomorrow night - pitching a helicopter against a GTC4Lusso in a race to Le Mans from circa 60km south of the track.
