The last few pages have been like that. It's a shame because it was a good thread up till recently, but now it's mostly being used to promote that person's business.
Behave. What I do for a living is to a large extent entwined with my online platforms, hence there's often unavoidable overlap. Especially when queried with the age old, 'What do you do for a living?'. Hardly promo.Plenty of interesting discussions here across a number of areas of which I know nothing about, and am learning from, but you've brought it back to me. Whoops.

Do you believe putting caps in ONE words of the title improves views numbers?
Frustratingly, yes... makes me puke personally
Not everyone does it but it proper grinds my gears.

Chill out a bit if poss, maybe go watch some TGE TV. My last upload was particularly irksome.
Enjoy.
I'm very relaxed, thanks.Enjoy.
I actually do watch vlogs. I particularly enjoy watching DannyDC2 (PHer), in fact, as his content is just straightforward, natural enthusiasm for doing his own thing and sharing his enjoyment of cars generally. Good bits, bad bits, a few disastrous bits even.
I'm not a fan of the sort of content that's aimed at achieving stellification for the vlogger, via number of views, at the expense of straight up, genuine enthusiast material.
I get the impression that many car vloggers would happily move on to doing content about handbags or gardening if it would bring more views/revenue.
That's not aimed at any individual it's just my thoughts on much of the automotive vlogger content out there.

Not sure where the irony is
Mocking someone's personal opinions using puke smilies and comments about arse licking, and then muttering something about school children and opinions. But don't worry I'm not bitter. Have a good weekend
Anyway, have a good weekend yourself.

.
"At the expense of"?! It's an unlimited, free platform, with the public deciding what they watch. If people want 'genuine enthusiast material' - there's a load out there for them. If they want to follow the exploits of a Vlogger they like, whether total car nerdery or not, they can..

Perhaps, but as much as I enjoy watching Techmoan have a poke at old AV kit, I don't begrudge him not showing me how to make a nice casserole.
People make the content they like, which they think will get an audience. I prefer it if it seems like I'm watching someone who's doing a lot more of the former, and not being really cynical about the latter, but ultimately, I can watch someone else doing other content if I choose, and if I feel really strongly about people not making the content I feel "should" be on Youtube, I can grab a GoPro and do it myself.

i´ve just seen dannydc2´s new video. he did a good job.
if you´re reading this, danny, you ALWAYS disconnect the negative battery cable first. the negative is connected to the body and if you disconnect the positive and touch a blank piece of metal with your spanner you could create a short.

Cheers mate, that means a lot. The temptation to start doing what the masses want to watch, rather than what I want to make, has presented itself once or twice. I wouldn't enjoy it though, making videos just for revenue or to push my brand etc. That's why I've never been arsed making stickers or T shirts despite being asked a few times. I have a day job to give me what I want in life, YouTube is just a hobby, and I'm glad it comes across that way!I'm not a fan of the sort of content that's aimed at achieving stellification for the vlogger, via number of views, at the expense of straight up, genuine enthusiast material.
There seems to be a lot of clickbait thumbnails for videos on youtube, so for instance if I search 'E92 M3', you'll see videos with big writing on the thumbnail saying '5 things i HATE about my M3! ' or 'Why i BLEW UP the engine in my M3!', 'You wont BELIEVE what this M3 does!'. Minor grievance i know, but irritating none the less. Then the video will be poor content, quite often delivered by someone with no actual knowledge, just a large bank account and/or a face and voice for videos.
Spent all day at Goodwood on Friday for the 11th year running, something occurred to me when on two occasions I happened across vlogging situations by non-accredited guys (one in particular had some serious gear, I spoke to him briefly, mainly to confirm my 'suspicion' that he had no accreditation or anything).
A few years back it just so happened that two manufacturers approached me for photo rights for images taken at FoS. My hands were tied, as a member of the public I couldn't commercialise my images, that's a fairly fundamental condition of entry at most private events and every Motorsport event I've been to.
Yet, many of these guys are openly 'working' for financial gain as their videos are monetized as soon as they hit YouTube with the sorts of numbers they're getting. In fact arguably that's the only reason some of them will be there full stop, it's a great opportunity to generate content and grow audience.
I just thought that was interesting. I guess understandably Goodwood would turn a blind eye to it as it's good exposure for them, but fundamentally it's against the T&Cs of entry.

I think there is a good chance some of the better-known vloggers were being paid to be at Goodwood.
SOL and STG appear to have been doing something with Michelin.
As ad revenue drops on video but their followings grow on Instagram, YT, Facebook and Twitter, this is where the big bucks is to be made. And I suspect the good ones are about to make an absolute fortune.

Absolutely. The way everyone under a certain age watches TV has changed massively in only a couple of years or so. I have realised that I'm watching mostly 'on demand' content now, not actually much live TV.
What I do watch, is now often 'amateur' content, which is becoming surprisingly professional looking.
Only the other day I watched a great series of programs about the London Underground. It was some guy I had never heard of presenting the show and his mate holding the camera, a bit of clever laptop editing later and you gave a really enjoyable program.
Fibre broadband, Smart TV's and Amazon sticks etc have allowed amateur content to easily appear on our living room screens in glorious HD.
These people are well and truly cutting out the middle man, and in my opinion they are the TV stars of the future.
There will always be a place for content from the established providers, but it is being eroded massively as we speak.
