Interesting to see Mat Watson, CarWow, Britain's biggest car vlogger, making ever more use of public votes in their videos.

Here, they take votes to spec a longterm Audi RS4 loaner.

I don't think Mat Watson can really be counted as a car vlogger. He's a presenter and journalist making videos for a mainstream, well-funded business.

Saying that, how do people on here define who is and isn't a vlogger?

I guess my point was Mat isn't top on subscribers or views so I was wondering what the metric that was used is. The one thing I find fascinating about his situation is that he's an employed journalist/presenter, rather than running his own gig like the more traditional vloggers.

Something that makes it impossible to judge these things is the constant waves and shifts in the algorithm patterns. For example a channel riding high at a certain time period can very quickly loose that buzz. I try to play the long term consistency game where possible.
He is posting only car related content (reviews, comparos etc.)

Given Archie is now second on the bbc news front page under the "most watched video" section, I can only presume you mean he's now king of the hill...

This market is shifting fast at the moment. I'm currently working from the carthrottle offices, lots of interesting opinions on what's next - it's exciting times!

I struggle to think who could currently be called a bigger UK automotive vlogger than your channel? Car throttle have more reach but aren't vloggers.

I also agree with the above, Matt for carwow isn't a vlogger, he's an automotive journalist.

Where did I use autistic as a derogatory label? An adjective yes, derogatory? Erm, no.
Where in that quote did I refer to you?

I separately quoted you and asked whether it was meant to be derogatory. You say not.

So what was it meant to be?
Sorry, you've lost me. You were referring to me or you weren't? Either way, ''autistic'' was meant as an adjective (as already said), “a tendency to view life in terms of one’s own needs and desires”.
Where I was referring to you was where I was quoting you. For reference, it was right here:

Your dictionary.com definition is horsest.

At best, you've got the wrong adjective, which for a "writer" is shoddy and that word doesn't belong in that sentence.

Inability to follow context is a symptom, maybe you should get tested.

Monkey Harris in the Ford GT:

Looks more impressive than I thought they'd manage. Interesting that he's carried over the production team and style straight over with very little obvious change for BBC-dom.

No one has really defined it, but MY view is that anyone who vlogs, whether it automotive or not, has a much more "one man" feel about the video, eg they're holding the cameras a lot, presenting on their own, less bells and whistles in the edit, less or no scripting.

You only need to watch Tim, Sam or Paul to see how they're different production styles to someone like Carwow or Car Throttle.

TGE is blurring the line a little as he usually seems to have a cameraman with him now, and does a little more in edit.

Doesn't Shmee have a growing team of production staff?

Production style? How does that substantively alter whether someone is a vlogger or a journalist? Is there any reason someone can't be both?

Shmee's efforts are company based and fully commercialised. That's no bad thing, however trying to distinguish Schmee from any other commercial channel in terms of whether they are vloggers or journalists, by virtue of budget or 'production style' is a futile exercise.

Ultimately they're both designed to use content production to turn a profit for commercial entities. Is there any need to try and create fake separation?

FFS, there's not much left of the kitten, but surely any symptom of autism is subjective and variable due to the nature of the spectrum?

Impaired Humour Comprehension is another possible symptom, but again, not in all cases.

Can we get back to the YouTube discussion now, and I promise not to make any references to anything or or anyone, in or out of popular culture, from any point in the last 30 years, that may or may not potentially cause offence?

Deal?

If Matt is defined as a vlogger that makes Chris Harris and the 5m+ top gear subs the biggest vlogger surely???

Can a Bugatti handle a drive-through?
Former racing driver Archie Hamilton has become an internet star by putting luxury cars in everyday situations. In one of his most viewed videos on YouTube, he wanted to see how a £1m Bugatti Veyron handles a fast-food drive-through.The 26-year-old, from Basingstoke, Hampshire, once competed at Le Mans but now makes a living by posting motoring reviews online.
Almost hitting a million views. Just shows what sort of content people want to watch. Still a way off his Rimac vs LaF vid at 2.5 million, but not bad going, will certainly pay for a new wrap on the R8 biggrin
I highly doubt he pays for anything more than materials for the wrap...if that.

Don't worry. To summarise the last few pages:

1. We have a debate about a vlogger being rude about another one
2. A really tedious argument about whether using a mental illness as an adjective to describe someone is appropriate (it isn't)
3. A really tedious debate about how to define a Vlogger, entirely it seems so that we can decide which one should hold the award of biggest Vlogger (yes really)

I believe it's a disability, not a mental illness (both are inappropriate).

Carry on wink

Some real high brow stuff coming to my channel tonight at 6;
I review a G63 in a Tesco carpark, go into the store to buy some sweets, get thrown out, and my bum is exposed several times. (I may or may not have censored the latter part)

Please all try to contain your excitement.
