If I had titled the video about a 964 RS, or anything relating to the 917s, 956, 962 etc I can assure you it would totally have failed in a way I could not even begin to describe.

There's a complicated story behind that video though; it was mid-afternoon and I knew I'd run a potential day without a video if I didn't shoot something - and in those situations one looks for what opportunities are around and what might potentially succeed on YouTube. To be honest it seemed like a fun spur of the moment idea, and I'd say in general it worked out fine.

Have you seen Alejandro's follow-up? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9r9odxNrCA
Yeah, I did see his follow up after I wrote my question. To be fair, I wouldn't have watched it if you'd but 964 RS in the title, that car does nothing for me, I stopped watching it once you took it out for a drive. I was thinking a title relating to the fact you had access to all the hidden cars of the Porsche collection might have served you better?

From my experience the only way to make something like that work is to include a price tag in the title but I wouldn't even know where to begin. The best is to link it to a specific subject and unfortunately just a car brand is no longer specific enough.

I did shoot a video inside the museum itself only a handful of months ago which almost sets a duplication too.

So my friend Matt, who splits time between Vancouver/LA, sent me a IG message with him posing with Paul (SOL) in LA. He owns a LP640 and supposedly he bumped into Paul who spotted his car and was filming it for his vlog. Talk about a small world.
Man who owns nice car in a nice area, is spotted by a man who searches for nice cars in nice areas?

I didn't realise you've already done one from there, makes sense now that this video wasn't too involved. I want to check it out, what's the title?

I've know I've moaned about audio before, but you had NICO ROSBERG in the car, a couple of mics or even a small shotgun would have made that section of the video so much more pleasing. If you don't want to lapel up just drop a zoom h1/h2 in the centre console.

Lovely car though.

Don’t think I’d have had Black personally (like I’d get to personally spec one rofl ) but it’ll likely be getting wrapped shortly I’d presume?!

It will be interesting to see how it works out, he's gained about 4k subscribers so far and counting, but these days getting the audience to 'click through' like that is increasingly more difficult.

The original order was placed in black because not only was it zero cost, but black is the best basis for wrapping as you don't need to worry about doing the door shuts and being quite so perfectionist - plus there's no show-through effect. I won't lie, it's also quite a resale friendly spec for when the time comes down the line.

However, upon seeing the first photos when it arrived at the dealership I had a mood change and decided it'll stay black at least in the short term for a month or two before being wrapped. The one thing that will immediately be rectified is that nasty silver rim on the wheels that AMG insist on doing, I just can't find myself agreeing with it.

Audio is such a sensitive point to those who are particular on it, but that has to be <1% of the audience. For example for me this is absolutely fine and totally clear, making a really nice balance of just snapping the cameras into the car and off you go. One has to remember that this is vlogging as opposed to a TV shoot; and these videos are made on a daily basis so imagine the extra edit work that has to go into syncing up more audio devices and more gear to potentially get wrong at the time. At the end of the day we have to find a balance between quality versus time consumption to produce the output.

Fair point re <1% caring about the audio, I guess I'm a perfectionist. Which is why I'm not a vlogger, and currently sitting editing on a saturday night on an edit which should have taken an afternoon.

I'm on day 3 hehe but I do love animating in aftereffects smile

I really really really like the black, I'm surprised by how much.

Shmee - one of my favourite video's you have done. It's changed my view of Nico a bit - for the better.

Glad that the silver edge are going from the rims. I really think they look naff and aftermarket and get close to ruining what is otherwise an incredibly handsome, well proportioned and purposeful looking car that looks good in black. Not exciting/exotic perhaps but mean and subtle definitely.

Does everyone get Nico Rosberg with their GTR collection? laugh

Pretty special video that one. Think that might be my favourite car you have Tim.

Been around that track in a C63 Black myself so know how fun it is.

I have watched a couple of Nico's videos and in my opinion he does not come across in a natural and engaging way at the moment. Plus I am not sure what the point of his channel is. Yes his USP is that he is the current F1 world champion but I am not sure that is enough

I wonder if famous people adopting youtube could become a trend. You've got Nico Rosberg getting in on the car side of it, I know David Meyler (professional footballer for Hull City and Ireland) is doing Fifa computer game videos. I'm sure there are more examples that i'm not aware of.

If David Beckham started a daily vlog I think the British tabloids would have nothing to write about.

Will this eventually step on the toes of the current youtubers? Is Nico Rosberg going to get all the best opportunities because of his higher profile?
