You do realise that was all for show right? It's for the video, which brings yet more followers. Tom already saw the car - he freely admitted that it had already been to Topaz for the satin PPF. So he'd already had his private receiving of the car and all the excitement of that. This was for the fans and the views.
He admitted in the video he was very nervous going up there - the level if exposure he's getting certainly doesn't sit naturally with him I don't think, he's quite a private person normally.
What does the inside of TGE's colon taste like? And how much rent does he charge you to keep your tongue there on a semi-permanent basis? He admitted in the video he was very nervous going up there - the level if exposure he's getting certainly doesn't sit naturally with him I don't think, he's quite a private person normally.

I'm not blowing smoke up their arses, I thought that post above was very explanatory, no fawning at all.
So in short, shove it.

Great reference amongst that about "faux friendship" - and going back to Stan, these are fans, not friends, but I don't think everybody realises that, fan nor vlogger.camshafted said:

Exactly, I already explained it. It's for views and to engage the fans.
It's a business, he needs the fans to feel engaged to feel closer to the 'celebrity'. These younger guys look up to these YouTubers, just because you don't doesn't mean either of you is wrong.
One thing on the 'younger guys looking up' to YouTubers. That's the thing which I find curious. Why do they look up to them? Take the car vloggers: They are entertaining but, generally, they're not as good at writing or conveying their thoughts as full-time journalists, they're not as good at driving as the professionals and they're not as good at presenting as the TV guys. Yet they're hugely popular. It's fascinating, and fair play to them for them achieving success. It's a business, he needs the fans to feel engaged to feel closer to the 'celebrity'. These younger guys look up to these YouTubers, just because you don't doesn't mean either of you is wrong.
This isn't just motoring, it's vlogging in general.

Young / youngish folk want to see other young / youngish folk doing stuff they like. And YT ticks that box perfectly. You can watch 50 "good enough" YT videos from youngish presenters about fast cars every single day of the week. The "now generation" don't want to wait a week for some old dude to pop up on BBC2.

Friends in high places, the same as how a ‘business’ like PET keeps going.
I'd love to know the ins and outs of that business. I know first hand that the business model would never be able to pay for what seems like a very well fitted out premises. Unless they're hiring out every single car every single day for retail money, it just isn't possible.Vehicle rental businesses are quite simple in theory. The purchase price and projected defleet price are known at the start. The difference needs to be covered by the rental charges, along with overheads, funding and running costs and a bit of margin. There is also a risk element to consider - uninsured losses, bad debts, non-rechargeable damage etc, just like any shop has to make a provision for theft and breakages
Most rental models work on 80% utilisation - each asset needs to be earning money 8 days out of 10, or 80% of the fleet has to be on hire at any give time. Vehicles don't earn money when they are parked in a fancy showroom.
From the outside looking in, there are a lot of things that do not stack up, but maybe he is on to something that the rest of us are not!

There's a fair few experienced people in the rental industry asking the same question. He either has a secret formula that nobody else has discovered, or.... well.

It's an interesting debate
As Tim says, he keeps his privacy fairly guarded. And that strikes me as incredibly sensible - its a motoring blog (Vlog?) after all, not Made in Chelsea.
I wonder whether TGE is ultimately going to regret inviting hordes of teenagers to collect his new cars or filming outside his office or his gym or whatever. Yes it might bring short term subscriber numbers, but at what longer term cost? Having started down that route can he now reverse course into private car collecting without alienating the teens?
But then I've always wondered whether 'celebrities' regret their choices. Is, what is often a short career in the spotlight, worth it if it means you can't then lead a normal life thereafter? I once bumped into Roy Keane in Dublin Airport, he had to have two bodyguards with him, presumably because without them someone he gets guys picking a fight on a regular basis.
Not saying TGE or Shmee are in exactly the same boat (Shmee has yet to develop a 'hard man' reputation). But it would be annoying not being able to go to a pub or restaurant without having people asking for selfies etc

Does STG have 'beef' with TGE? TGE seems to comment on every video or insta pic of STG's, but there never seems to be any replies from STG.
I know Shmee seems to have distanced himself from STG, JWW etc recently, but I don't think STG and TGE have ever done any content previously.
No, the beef was with ashwin.I know Shmee seems to have distanced himself from STG, JWW etc recently, but I don't think STG and TGE have ever done any content previously.
The question of collaboration is interesting. Does 2 and 2 make 3 or does it make 5? Did each of the three who produced the hot hatch trip videos get more or fewer views as a result of their collaboration than if they had made the trip on their own? Each of their videos stands at around 100k views which is a decent result in relation to their other work so presumably this time it did work for them.
In general, I presume that a collaboration works better for the party who currently has fewer subscribers - and I would also have thought that it works better where there is less overlap between subscribers. In the case of the three hot-hatchers, I would guess that there is very strong overlap. Paul has twice as many subscribers as Sam or James, but the other two generally seem to get at least as many views per video, so there is no indication here that my general rule of collaboration working better for the party with fewer subscribers applying here.

That doesn't seem very fair, I spent 2-4 hours on each day of the Gumball trying to entertain grids and take selfies - unfortunately one does have to call it a day eventually because there are so many people at Gumball you'd otherwise be doing it around the clock.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
