Shmeee, out of interest how much did you get paid for doing the Autosport show?
Isn't it normally the case that exhibitors have to pay?

Would be a weird video for you to do.

I’m saying that as a friend, I’d be like what the hell is this ?? laugh
I'd have a go at it like but it'll be a longboi as mentioned previously. There's so much to cover. Waking up this morning I kinda like the idea though.

I really need to upgrade my 'rig'. At the minute I'm editing on an almost 5 year old MacBook. Not ideal. Makes big projects a pain in the neck. Unfortunately the allure of car parts is more appealing than computer parts at the moment... biggrin

Sam / Paul / James etc use Apple's Final Cut.
An addendum to that is preferably use Final Cut if you're on a Mac, it runs better than Adobe Premiere.
It does, but Premiere is still a lot more powerful, even if you don't factor in after effects, which Apple has no answer to.

Final cut is great for quick vlogs, Adobe suite for when you get more complicated.

Final Cut Pro is an excellent application, that's what I've used for the past couple years. It's simple enough to make a quick VLOG, but also has a ton of features and plug in support to create pretty much anything a home user could dream of.

The way it's optimised to Apple's hardware in OSX really does baffle me. As I hinted in my previous post my MacBook is pretty weak on specs, but it'll still able to churn out anything up to 20 minutes @ 1080p 60fps with relative ease.

Definitely recommended if you've got an Apple computer already.

We just use iMovie and manage to get the most out of it. Struggled to overlay videos, but flukily overcame that by filming the second shot via an osmo and it acts as though it’s a picture not a second video...

Anyhoo... think will upgrade to Final Cut Proin the future. Thanks for the info guys

Personally, I like the diversity of ages and cars and, to be quite frank, bad drivers are bad drivers - I've fortunately not seen too much of that, because DN days are well run, but the bits I've seen are from young and old alike and in cars from the cheapest to, pretty much the fastest and most expensive.

As for diversity and for people's opinions though, in a way, that's what'd make it interesting.

Personally, I enjoy Joe Achilles and Sideways Sid as they feel like more of a conversation with the viewer than other more "shouty" YouTube channels.

Anyone got any suggestions for editing software that idiots can use?
A lot of people use Adobe Premiere, though I have Sony Vegas (it was on offer at a good price when I got it) and I find it easy enough to use.
It's super simple to use and may lack the fancier features of Adobe Premiere and alike, but I do love Movavi ... Cut clips and audio, create transitions, add text/backgrounds animations, fades, increase/decrease speed. I'm pretty sure it does video-in-video too. It's all rather good! It cost me £20 too. I'll most likely be using it for an up-and-coming road trip, although I mainly use it for watch videos smile

Yeah and on top of that how much exactly did you spend on Christmas presents for your family last year? And also how much money did your grandparents give in birthday/Christmas cards as a kid, in total obviously.

Thanks, I'll have a look. As I say, it's only for my own entertainment really but I might have to introduce some fake jeopardy and deadline stuff like the professionals on Dave. wink Better still, I might get a watch and video that?

Merch is cringe, but there's good money to be made.

If 200,000 rabid fans watch the vid where you flash a naff watch with a link, and 0.1% click through and buy one for £100, and you take a 20% commission on tracked sales, that's £4,000 on the hip for waving your wrist around for 10 seconds in a 10-minute vid.

cringeworthy maybe , but i just thought it would be a tangible way of supporting the channel. whilst it may be free to watch , it obviously is not free to create content.
i find the plugging of watches etc more cringeworthy but not offensive. also i might be able to buy a t-shirt but would not be able to buy a watch.the smoking tire plugging of various items seems a little too much but i really enjoy the videos and it appears that that is how the guy earns a living.

I would definitely buy a work shirt with 'Shmee150' embroidered onto the collar, as worn by Our Hero back in the day.

Funny you should say that, I've always been dead against it for the reasons stated. Cringe.

BUT, I did actually write a plan the other week to introduce merchandise for those who want it. I'm talking about stickers and mugs, simple tat. There has been a call for stickers and stuff for a long time.

It mostly doesn't exist because of the extra workload it would create. I think merchandise would be good in a sense that it gives me an extra bit of pocket money, but it's a lot of time investment for little yield.

I wrote the plan and haven't really looked at it again since. If you haven't noticed I'm feeling a bit down with the YouTube stuff lately. I'm sure those who make regular videos in here will agree, it's a lifestyle more than a hobby, if you want to be any good at it. The YouTube game is tough on the mind, the pressure of trying to make every video as entertaining as the previous video is hard. I never thought of myself as being self-conscious but I can't help feeling a little upset whenever I get a bad comment or a dislike. On the run up to xmas I was forcing myself to spend extended periods in a freezing barn with a fake smile on my face thinking I was enjoying it, I wasn't!

I like making videos, I like playing with cars, I'm sure I'll get back into it shortly.

As you were wink
