idiculous. YT need to get a grip on this PDQ or their algos and channel will be worthless in fairly short order. Of course, this must beg the question; if you're video has been clobbered negatively, are some exploiting/paying robots to get bunked up in the ratings?
I asked Tim this before but he said its not possible...

Or is it going to be same as Instagram with the paid likes and someones managed to 'crack' bot liking and watching on youtube?

Cant remember where i saw it but out if the Far East it showed someones bot farm for instagram and it was just rows and rows of phones linked up (sorry if im preaching to people that know) or the people who run social media companies that can reach out to 'thousands' of people and get 'thousands' of likes within a few minutes. Just starts all seemingly abit suspect

Anyone using those kind of services must be constantly living in fear of their accounts being revoked.

It is strange though, the dislike bots. Like I say, perhaps they're just testing the service and intend to sell it in the future "likes for cash".

It'll never last.

Welp.

Sunday I uploaded a video about whether you can use trackday tyres year round.

It was tracking quite well for me, all the comments were positive, 180 likes and 1 dislike, 5k views in 24 hours, then a few hours ago it got nearly 800 dislikes in a few minutes.

I'm assuming a "youtube bomb" bot, but won't know until the stats update in 48 hours. There was a thread on reddit about this last week, it totally kills the video as that ratio of like to dislikes means it will get dropped even from your subscribers suggested.

Can't think of anyone who would want to do that to my channel as I have no real competition in my niche frown Tim, have you ever had anything like that before?
can I ask your you tube name without getting you in trouble as I would like to watch that video as it is relevant to me. PM me if required

Yeah, his content's decent, kind of a dick move to play on his channel given there's others that, bluntly, can shrug off those kinds of numbers.

Agreed, I was only curious as the chap on Reddit mentioned being part of a network, and I thought it could have been an attack on the network rather than totally random.
Yeah, good point.

Dozens of companies out there already selling YT likes and dislikes, of course.

You can thump a rival YT channel with 2000 dislikes in under a week for about 100 quid.

The title of that vid is slightly misleading as the road was more sheet ice

Heres a run of the same scooby in the snow on nokian z lines.

Unfortunately mr tyre reviews cba to get out of bed or return the phone calls for a proper rematch

You both had the same conditions, and swapped sides to make sure you eliminated any differences in the left and right surfaces. It seems like a pretty fair demonstration.

I've driven AWD on summer tyres and RWD on winters in the snow. I'll take the RWD on winters out of that choice.

I don’t watch alot of car related youtube apart from DDC2, Harrys garage, carfection and the odd Shmee video.

The rest of them are absolute drivel, tge & sol etc. Videos about absolutely nothing. As mentioned, sol’s latest video about the ‘ultimate’ test for his springs and spacers... driving around london over speedbumps. Get to f*ck. Boring muppet. And anyone over the age of 14 that watches that sh*te needs to take a long hard look at their lives tbh.

Im not saying it isnt a fair demonstration either, just saying that its the same car going up.the same hill when theres snow on the ground instead of ice.

During the day id been doing practise runs up.said hill clocking 20-30mph, come.night time, and after traffic and a thaw/freeze the road was more ice and i failed to gain traction as you can see.

But anyway so if bot viewing becomes a thing, how will youtube stop it?

What if you watch it out of detached vulgar curiosity?

Believe me, I'm as mind blown as you are.

That's fair enough, but having owned a Subaru on winter tyres, I can tell you right now, there's other stuff I have owned that will simply walk away from one on a slippery hill.

From the perspective of AWD and "normal" tyres versus 2WD and winter tyres, the video is bang on the money. If that's your choice, choose good tyres.

Know someone who runs a (small) company that has been mentioned and featured in a handful of YouTuber "meets" since the New Year (they are late to the game). They spent half-a-day filming one 15-minute video, and they've since seen about ~£10k of new business from people who saw it and rang them up to get work done and mentioned the videos.

Social media does work, if targeted accurately. It's just online word-of-mouth. Not rocket science.

Likewise, almost as enjoyable as watching Archie driving Tony's Ferrari around in a circle in 1st/2nd gear in Central London

Take a look at George karellas(soup) on YouTube. Not a wrap in sight. Good enough for TV.apparently needs some support. Take a look and report back
