Are these Vloggers just a scam? SOL or Shmee etc???????
Discussion
Shmee, I like most of your content and love seeing the cars you get to own and drive, but please stop the fake smiling while you talk thing you do, especially at the start of your videos. It's so put on and just makes you look like your head is going to explode.
My girlfriend said you sound and look like a character from Wallace and gromit.
Good luck with future.

With adsense falling on YT, they might as well just get paid to post sponsored content on Insta.
AdSense is currently the strongest it has even been. My rpm (earnings per 1k views) are up 38% year to date against the same period last year. With videos potentially earning revenue for perpetuity, YT could be a nice little pension for many!

That's really interesting. Would this be anything to do with a 1m+ subs base and being a high-profile YouTuber? I always got the impression that adsense was falling.

I don't think my profile is stronger relative to the entirety of YouTube channels now than it was a year ago; I mean obviously it's outright larger than it was but relative to others I doubt there is a huge change overall. With videos potentially earning revenue for perpetuity, YT could be a nice little pension for many!
It's interesting to think what would happen if you just stop, but the algorithms for sure 'punish' you for that and the decline would be steeper than anybody would want. Then it's down to vanishing from the public eye and the damage doing its thing as you loose any channel 'hype'.
I expect the change that has just been made to raise the requirement for monetisation to 1000 subscribers and 4000 minutes accrued view time in the past year will possibly be beneficial to those who retain that status. The same levels of revenue, shared with fewer people, effectively.
But the mechanics of how much money anyone actually gets, with the RPM etc, is something I think they'll always keep deliberately murky.

Is YouTube still the main focus for established vloggers, Tim?
Or do the bigger names see sponsored posts on Instagram and paid promotional work as the way forward?
Pitches to brands for paid promotion need to cover everything you offer, youtube, insta posts, insta stories, and even snapchat / fb / twitter if the reach is there.Or do the bigger names see sponsored posts on Instagram and paid promotional work as the way forward?
All the youtubers (apart from maybe James) seem to keep the video flow going for adsense fill money, all while hoping to land bigger paid deals.
The amount of times "paid promotion" links are coming up on their videos and posts would indicate these deals are header to get than pistonheads imagines...

According to the latest SOL video, Tony was offered £30k over list for the Perf.
If this is true, and not just market boosting activity, TGE must be over the moon for getting out at list.
Could be true, allocation is really tight for the HP worldwide. I was lucky to get a MY19 slot from my dealer. If this is true, and not just market boosting activity, TGE must be over the moon for getting out at list.
Btw, what's up with Aleem beefing with Mo Vlogs now?

JWW seems to have got on the right side of McLaren. Is officially presenting live video from Geneva for them, so guessing a paid gig.All the youtubers (apart from maybe James) seem to keep the video flow going for adsense fill money, all while hoping to land bigger paid deals.

Brand deals can be very lucrative and are significantly more reliable than the variations in both earnings and traffic via the algorithms on YouTube. No business would be happy relying upon something so wildly outside of their control and it's a huge complaint from those running channels across all genres. However, in some way it is an income on a monthly basis that isn't hugely likely to become zero overnight in normal circumstances.Or do the bigger names see sponsored posts on Instagram and paid promotional work as the way forward?

Quite enjoyed the pickup gt3 video although got annoyed when he said its going for ppf wanted to see him drive the thing
That dealership looked quite cool
Fair enough! I'd like to drive it too but I've already driven a press PDK one around the German countryside and driven somebody else's manual one around Ascari circuit so I can hold on a little longer. In any case I'm now in Geneva for the week and then go to Australia and New Zealand for a fortnight so it'll be ready to drive the moment I touch down back in the UK and that works for me.That dealership looked quite cool

Great car and colour choice with the GT3 Tim. Those sill covers though?
Haha, I think it's quite fun, they can easily be reverted if required.jon- said:

Well that's fascinating, I've just been offered one at £30k under list; should become a trader! Another friend got out at list last week too but it's a close call because quite simply the UK market for any and all cars has fallen absolutely flat on its face recently. I wouldn't want to be in a position of an inbound car that I wasn't holding onto for a while at the moment. If this is true, and not just market boosting activity, TGE must be over the moon for getting out at list.

I'm interested in the general opinions on this topic because I can't make up my mind what I think. Up to this point I've tried to remain exceptionally neutral about this kind of thing because being tied to one manufacturer creates massive complications when you then go to 'review' a rival's products. I had an incident in the past where a company cancelled my test drive in a car that rivaled McLaren as they thought I worked for them - although that was not at all the case and it took some phone calls to resolve it.Equally, one minute you see someone presenting an official Aston Martin product and the next a McLaren one, and that creates a strange atmosphere to me. I'm not sure how the dust is going to settle in this space but I'm paying very close attention to it with intrigue.
