You can hear the belly laughing just outside Gaydon.
Bravo Bentley. Bravo.
5,500 orders with deposits @£160k minimum...Bravo Bentley. Bravo.
Don't think anyone will be laughing.
But at neither sight, will they be laughing at that level of take up!

Five and half thousand advanced orders. Do me a favour Was that before anybody had actually seen it?Don't think anyone will be laughing.
What it represents is the cheapest marketing exercise JLR will ever undertake (ie free) to work out what the price ceiling of this type of vehicle can be pushed too.
Expect Range Rover products with considerably more gravitas (and style) to top trump this motorised gargoyle. Was the designer as boss-eyed as his finished sketches, one can only wonder. Vee Muzzt Build Ziss. Brilliant

Personally it's a car I will never own.
But I applaud Bentley for understanding their market and catering for it. No doubt very profitably.
It is clear though that a vast number of PHers clearly have no idea what wealthy people want / like. Referencing the cost is laughable. A good proportion of folk that will order this won't even register the cost. They are not looking for "value" (although clearly they'll not be looking to be ripped off) they are looking for the best. And 'the best' costs exponentially more than second best, not just in cars but most things in life.
Bentley have identified that persuading people their product is 'the best' and providing it, is an incredibly lucrative end of the market.
Secures jobs in UK, so all good in my book. Plus, Bentley has always been about indulgence and showing your wealth to others, nothing new there.

Few on here, I suspect, would disagree with you but the thing that most are taking issue with is not the cost, or Bentley's aspirations, but the looks. But I applaud Bentley for understanding their market and catering for it. No doubt very profitably.

Yep, I can definitely understand why they've done it, in fact I think any big luxury manufacturer would be mad not to have at least one SUV in their line-up these days but this one just lacks any imagination in the design department whatsoever. It doesn't look like a £160k+ car, at least on the outside.lankyarcher said:

I wouldn't say it's ugly, just very dull and boring. If you are going to make a big brash ostentatious display of wealth and let's face it, that's exactly what this is, at least have the balls to do it properly. This just looks a Bentley car on stilts, very unoriginal and non-descript.
Still I suspect just the name and the fact that it costs so much will have oligarchs and our rich middle-eastern friends salivating, soon to be "seen" cruising up and down the King's Road.
As someone mentioned though, I think the depreciation on these are going to be absolutely epic, might be worth considering one as a daily when they are £30k.
I would. In fact I’d put it in the top 5 of ugliest vehicles on the road.Still I suspect just the name and the fact that it costs so much will have oligarchs and our rich middle-eastern friends salivating, soon to be "seen" cruising up and down the King's Road.

Launch press is wrong too…...http://www.mercedes-amg.com/g65.php?lang=eng#vehicle_overview_section. This is more powerful.
