Sold private reg on ebay

I have sold my private/cherished registration number on ebay.

First time so am a bit unsure on the next step.

Do I complete the "nominee" section on the V778w, sign it and send it to the buyer?

Or complete the online transfer service?

Are there any differences between the two methods?

I thought you had to change the nominee with DVLA?? You need to change the current nominee, I think there is a small charge, and then it can be sent to the new person, iirc
