My daughter's car (which she's only had for two months) has been keyed along the two nearside doors. A Revive man has been to see it and says, because the line goes right across the doors, it will need to go to a body shop. He reckons it'll be around £800. If she doesn't use insurance - and she can get it cheaper than that - does she have to tell the insurance company? If she does, will the fact that it's vandalism count in her favour and mean that her next premium is not quite so sky-high? She's only 21 and is pretty upset about it all. It's such a senseless thing to do.
Christ on a bike.
Mines been keyed 4, yes 4 times in the last couple of months. At this rate it'll be more stripes than paint soon. I've been quoted considerably less than £800 to get the scratches taken out, it may not be perfect but in all honestly there isn't much point in going overboard. Based on your quote I'd be in for about £3000!
If your daughter gets it repaired herself I can't see why she'd need to tell the insurance company.

if you pay from your own pocket then no need to tell insurance
you should be able to get it done a bit cheaper or nearer half that if youre not so fussy , bloke near us does "trade" jobs to a decent standard for £70 a panel
might be worth leaving it until the scum bag has moved onto something else or forgotten about the need to key that car , could touch it in to stop it getting rusty though

Half that price would about right. I had a huge dent in a rear door and rear wing knocked out , both panels sorted and resprayed plus a fair amount of mopping on the whole car to get rid of scratches and marks and that came to about £600 from my local body shop so that should be a lot less.
