I think I may like this more than the Cayman GT4

Where to find £70k?

I've driven the car at the PEC and really enjoyed it , it's a huge bundle of fun - I loved it - Swapping a 991 C2S cab for it .

Free motoring for a year or so due to premiums should sort the head bit. The Spyder will absolutely monster the Golf on track....

Would rather spend 10k less on a Supercharged V6 F Type. Much Better looking, built in the UK, much better roof, sounds infinitely better and does not look like the younger brother to the car everyone will be saying your should have bought.
Looks are subjective. Both cars sound great. However, the F-Type is not even in the same performance ballpark as this Boxster. Looks + sounds, but no guts? Bit of a poseur's car IMO.

Thanks for that. Luckily trying one at same PEC next week. Bringing wife for the nod. PH review seems most positive.
Spyder owners club are looking to play with hp output. Suggesting 400 hp. Not sure needed though. Looking forward to it.

Question: In what way is the GT4 better than the new Spyder?

Anyone who says 10bhp is an ass.

Having driven both : I don't think it is - "better" is so subjective - ones a brilliant , fun , engaging road car - the other , more extreme : fine in the road , amazing on the track . Bottom line I guess , is they both have a different end use , but both are leaders in thier class at thier pricing level . IMHO , Porsche really are producing some fine cars at the moment smile

10bhp, an entirely different front axle and suspension lifted from the 911 GT3, adjustable anti-roll bars and a lot more aero.

A lot higher a percentage than for other fast cars, to be honest, most of which are not even available in manual form!

The Porsche-buying public love PDK. It's an extremely impressive box, that's for sure.

The box downshifts at WOT in automatic mode? Why would you expect anything else? It is responding to the throttle input that it interprets as a request for maximal acceleration. If you don't want an auto, don't drive an auto!

The Porsche Spyder is a lovely car- but for 70 grand I think I'd prefer to spend 45k on a mint BMW 1M coupe
and have 25k left over to buy a Patek Philippe Nautilus
