RE: TOTD: What corners better - Elise or Mini?

Quite an odd question coming from the forum this afternoon. A sports car - here the Lotus Elise S1 - is being compared to a classic Mini in terms of dynamics.
TOTD: What corners better - Elise or Mini?
A bizarre question with many different responses - get involved here!
OP 'RowntreesCabana' has owned a few Lotuses in his time but with his current interests pointing towards modified classic Minis, he wants to know if it can corner as well as said Lotus. Interesting...
With both such popular cars, there has been many wide and varied responses from PHers to this thread. As always, the debate is pretty lively too. Join in the discussion below!

I've not driven an Elise but I owned an old modified Mini with a mate and drove that on and off for 2 years. From my experience I'd imagine a lot depends on how the car is set up we ran 10 inch alloys with higher profile tyres so there was a small amount of tyre wall roll when pressed hard but the suspension was a bilstein kit which was rock solid and over compensated if anything. It made daily driving uncomfortable but it went around corners well enough. Ours wasn't that predictable so would reach a limit and then go without warning and you be facing the wrong way. This was accentuated by the turbo'd engine which came on boast which a huge a amount of oomph!
