Which 5 cars would you love to be driven in or drive for a day?. Keeping the spec fairly loose, but let's say "road going" rather than purebred race/track cars?

For me, in no order:

  • Lexus LFA
  • Jaguar C-Type or D-Type
  • Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale
  • McLaren F1
  • LaFerrari
To choose just one, I'll take the LFA.

964 C2 (as I'll actually buy one, would be worth driving a sorted one beforehand)

I'm always thinking about stuff like this but now the question has been asked I'm having to dig deep into my mind haha.

-Nissan gtr, in my mind this is a realistic dream machine.

-Ariel atom v8, I missed my chance on an experience day and still kick myself.

-Top fuel dragster, I would just like to experience the brutality.

-Ferrari 458, I really like these and would have one in a heartbeat if I ever had the money.

-Btcc car, a friend drove one and said it wasnt like driving a car it was more like operating a piece of machinery. Something I'd like to try myself.

Just to add in aware its not a car but I'd love to be a passenger in a fighter jet it is something on my bucket list.

Ford RS200 Evolution (good call, Tickle - could have forgotten that one)
Morgan Aeromax
AC Cobra (original)
... and, as I'm 50 this year, first choice has to be an original GT40, as it's not only my favourite car but an important anniversary for this one, too.

Last choice... a hearse, as I may as well pick something I have a decent chance of actually getting a ride in at some point in my life - that way I won't miss them all.

Managed to get a ride in a Morgan Plus 8 last year, otherwise that would still be on the list.

If any pistonheads members have these in West Yorkshire I'd love to even have a look at these cars let alone have a ride in one

It was a family friends' so I didn't exactly drift it. A full production CTR. Drove it on a crisp, early, Sunday morning in Ottawa, Canada. With the boost turned up, it was quite frightening. Nothing, nothing, nothing...BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARK, WHOOSH, BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARK.

Faster than anything I've driven (fastest car other than that is a Ferrari 430 on full song) but some margin and easily the most visceral. Proper old-school performance. Noisy transmission, whooshes and pops from the engine, and that upright windscreen. It was just right.

The adjustable boost knob was the single coolest car interior feature in the world too.

Pity he's since sold it!

That's 7 wink

Oh, and I know of at least 4 of those in West Yorks, but sadly I can't offer you the chance... including a LaFerrari with 0 miles on the clock, that will never be driven by the owner.

Difficult one for me and perhaps a bit unconventional, in no particular order:

  • Supercharged Pro Mod drag car, fastest cars with doors on earth (real race cars have doors).
  • Ford GT40
  • Ferrari F40
  • Something with a big 12 cylinder Aero/Tank engine in it, think Napier Bentley or Jay Leno's tank car
  • Chrysler Turbine
However I’d give up performance cars all together and drive a Zoe/Leaf for the rest of my life if somebody would give me the money I'd need to learn to fly in and go solo in a Supermarine Spitfire (or other big engined warbird) (£85,000, plus the interim 1000 flying hours the school at Goodwood require).
