Have sent you a PM Great myths of today continued- Caterhams might depreciate slowly but they are not immune from depreciation nor are Sevens under 10k uncommon . Man maths and fellow Seven owners told me my old Seven was worth up to 12 and at least 10. The market told me it was only going to pay 8- for a very tidy and upgraded car.Look and ye shall find - but not from Caterham themselves.

Zetecs have always been cheap and I don't know why. I think it's because Caterham never offered a factory build Zetec, but it may not be. They remain an unjustified Cinderella IMO and probably a better way to a first 7 than a Vauxhall 1.6. They are very tunable, with loads of tuning parts off the shelf and you can take them as far as any other engine this side of a Duratec.God that's **ing cheap!

I may need to sell all my cars in the coming months including the Seven which will be a heartbreaker as I could see myself being buried in it .

Thanks to JaseB for being a gent to deal with, the car came with a Mountain (I do not use this word lightly) of parts, paperwork, accessories and spares... not to mention 3 spare sets of wheels and tyres! Lastly a fresh MOT and half a tank of petrol- which I greatly enjoyed burning loudly ;-)
It might not be a Caterham "Select Car" as per the 1.6 Vauxhall car in the original article and it has been properly "Used" rather than a garage queen but frankly that's exactly what I wanted.
Now, it just needs to stop raining.

The Vauxhall engine makes it easily the most undesirable 7 ever made.
What's wrong with the Vauxhall engine? I'd rather than than some wheezing CVH jobbie that usually gets lobbed in kit cars. soad said:
The old OHC engine which is prone for its camshaft-wear?
I ran one of these for five years and raced it for four years in a club with about 17 other identical racing cars, Many of which had been racing since they were built last millennium; not once did I hear of camshaft wear or of a camshaft being replaced.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
