RE: Renault Clio 182 Trophy: PH Fleet
Discussion
The Javelin Sprint isn't actually Hill climb, it's on some proper and some not so proper racetracks. As already mentioned it is definitely not value for money regarding track time, but the very good friendly competition makes it better (to me at least). You basically get 8 timed runs and 1 untimed practice to post your best time. At the end of the day your best time of all runs is used to place you. Also because of the limited track time I haven't worn through brake pads or tyres (although they were brand new for last year's championship) and I reckon they will easily last me this year too. Although my clio is my daily driver as well, I don't do a lot of miles and do have a set of wheels with 888's on for track use.
This is almost sounding like an advert (I genuinely don't work for javelin but do really enjoy the sprints) they have just released the dates and tracks for this year on their website.

My R888's will easily last two seasons hillclimbing with driving to & from events, they aren't used for daily driver duties normally. This is almost sounding like an advert (I genuinely don't work for javelin but do really enjoy the sprints) they have just released the dates and tracks for this year on their website.
Track time is short but very intensive, you only have one chance (well, 4 or 5 really) to get it right!

I miss my #090 Trophy - was a great car. Certainly holds its own... and just as enjoyable to drive as my 997.2RS in its own way.
For pad compounds I ran Performance Friction PF97s. Fairly aggressive but stood up well at the 'ring. Lots of other mods available such as running a cold air induction pipe to the fog light areas etc. but am sure you're on top of the list of things you can do
Here are some meet photos - managed to get a photo of 7 of us. Sorry about the poor quality - was taken in 2007!
Thanks for sharing your photos Ollie, great to see. Was chatting to a few Trophy owners at Autosport over the weekend and trying to arrange a few events this year. You should come back into the fold! For pad compounds I ran Performance Friction PF97s. Fairly aggressive but stood up well at the 'ring. You've got me seriously interested Rob, so thanks for posting! I was looking into it over the weekend a bit more and it's very appealing. Only thing that's annoying is Oulton Park clashes with Le Mans, so I won't be able to make that one. Watch this space...This is almost sounding like an advert (I genuinely don't work for javelin but do really enjoy the sprints) they have just released the dates and tracks for this year on their website.

You should enter it into the Javelin Sprint Series this year, I done it last year in my 182 Cup and came first in class (admittedly that was more due to regular attendance than skill). You would probably be put in the standard road car class with those few mods, then we could race!
Looks like you've got yourself a competitor for this year Rob, I'm all signed up! This is totally your fault. And I can't wait! BenLowden said:
