Golf is named after gulf stream (which isn't a wind, it's a current, but still); passat is the German word for trade wind.

Google translate says that 'all wheel drive' translates to 'trazione integrale' (is this where the ti badge comes from?). Either way, it sounds better than Q4 anyway.

TI stands for Turismo Internatzionale (or something like that, I've probably spelt it wrong). Goes back decades and comes from international saloon car racing.
