Ferrari wanted to call the LaFerrari the F150. Ford put a stop to that.

150 being the number of years Italy had been a state.

Snap!

Is it not 'Tucson' after the western American city (likewise Hyundai's other SUV being the 'Santa Fe').

I thought the topic title was cars with the same name? A number/class designation is not a name as far as i can tell. A lot of the suggestions are just the same car from different regions/eras (Plymouth/Dodge/Mitsubishi Colt), or reuses of the name by the company that owns the previous example (Mercury/Ford Cougar). Do they really count?

I can only think of one off the top of my head.

Chrysler Phaeton (Concept) and VW Phaeton.

Definitely. 1984-1990, before "Defender". Although, tbf, it was "Ninety".

And let's not forget 127 - Land Rover and Fiat. Or 125 and 128 - Fiat and BMW.

Wonder if that's why they bought Rover all along? So they could release the 2, 4 and 6 series .
